Position Description and Selection Criteria:
The Position
The Research Officer will provide administrative support and contribute to research activities, including manuscript development, data collection, and data analysis, across various rural health research projects
The position works under the direction of the Academic Lead for Research at ANU Rural Clinical School and provides administrative support and contribute to research activities at ANU Rural Clinical School. The position will maintain close working relationships with academic and professional staff within the School, College and the wider University and liaise with external stakeholders.
The Area:
The ANU rural medicine program, delivered through the Rural Clinical School (RCS), provides access to medical education for students from rural locations, and offers rural learning experiences for all students in the MChD program. The RCS is funded by the Commonwealth Department of Health as part of the Rural Health Multidisciplinary Training Program (RHMTP) and engages with local communities to support students health professionals with a focus on community needs.
The RCS enables medical students to undertake part of their training through rural placements in six rural campuses throughout SE NSW, in Bega, Cooma, Eurobodalla, Goulburn, Young and Cowra. An integrated rural curriculum is offered across all four years of the MChD program, with year-long rural placements available for a proportion of the Year 3 cohort. By providing positive rural experiences, the RCS aims to encourage medical graduates to pursue careers in rural clinical practice. The RCS also undertakes research focused on rural health issues, as well as rural medical education and workforce recruitment, retention and development. MChD students are supported to undertake independent research projects in Phase 1 of the program. The RCS team is distributed across SE NSW as well as the ANU Acton Campus.
The College
The encompasses the disciplines of: Astronomy, Biology, Chemistry, Earth Sciences, Environment and Society, Mathematics, Physics, and Science Communication and is also home to a number of cross-disciplinary and specialist Institutes and Centres.
