Cooktown Multipurpose Health Service is seeking an experienced Clinical Midwife to join its Midwifery Group Practice on a 12-week contract from August to November 2026. Based in Cooktown, Queensland, this role offers the opportunity to deliver continuity-of-care midwifery in a rural health setting. The position is remunerated at AUD72.50 to AUD81.50 per hour, and will suit a midwife with solid MGP experience and a commitment to high-quality, woman-centred care.

- Lead continuity-of-care midwifery within a Midwifery Group Practice model
- AUD72.50 to AUD81.50 per hour, 12-week contract (24 August - 15 November 2026)
- Rural practice setting with scope for senior clinical and portfolio responsibilities

Preferred Requirements





- Minimum three years' experience working within a Midwifery Group Practice
- Current Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification
- Demonstrated competency in cardiotocography (CTG) and fetal surveillance
- Advanced Neonatal Resuscitation and Advanced MEP (or equivalent) qualifications
- Recent hands-on birthing experience and willingness to participate in portfolio and audit management as a senior clinician

Preferred Qualifications

- Current registration as a Midwife with AHPRA
- Fetal Surveillance Education Program (FSEP) certification
- Epidural competency highly desirable
