Impact Care Solutions is establishing a dedicated Complex Care Team to support children and young people with some of the most complex combinations of disability, trauma, mental health needs and behaviours of concern.

This is not a standard Therapeutic Youth Worker position.

It is a specialist SCHADS Level 4 role for experienced practitioners who have developed advanced capability supporting children and young people with highly complex needs across both therapeutic residential care and disability services.

We're building a small team of practitioners who combine clinical judgement, strong therapeutic practice and advanced disability support skills to work with children and young people many providers are unable or unwilling to support.

Why this role is different

Our Complex Care Specialists support children and young people whose needs often include overlapping presentations such as:

- Significant disability

- High personal care needs

- Autism and intellectual disability

- Trauma and attachment difficulties

- Mental health presentations

- Emotional dysregulation

- Behaviours of concern

- Self-harm or suicide risk

- Communication and sensory support needs

These children and young people require more than additional staffing. They require practitioners with advanced capability who can confidently integrate therapeutic care, disability support and sound professional judgement in every shift.

About the role

Working as part of our specialist Complex Care team, you will:

- Build safe, therapeutic and trusting relationships with children and young people.

- Deliver high-quality therapeutic and disability support tailored to individual needs.

- Provide personal care including showering, toileting, continence care, dressing, mobility support and medication assistance.

- Implement Behaviour Support Plans, Individual Support Plans and Risk Management Plans.

- Respond safely and therapeutically during behavioural escalation and crisis situations.

- Support education, community participation, appointments, communication and daily living skills.

- Work collaboratively with Behaviour Support Practitioners, allied health professionals, House Coordinators and other members of the multidisciplinary team.

- Complete professional documentation, including shift notes, behavioural observations and incident reports.

- Model high standards of professional practice, mentor and support other team members where required, and contribute to the ongoing development of practice within the team.





- Provide practice leadership during shifts and, where required, step into the House Coordinator role to provide operational support and continuity of leadership

- Participate in a rotating roster including day, afternoon, awake, weekend and sleepover shifts.

This role is probably for you if...

- You have significant experience supporting children and young people with highly complex needs, particularly where disability, trauma and behaviours of concern overlap.

- You have developed your practice within Out-of-Home Care, complex disability, therapeutic residential care or another intensive support environment.

- You remain calm, think clearly and exercise sound professional judgement during challenging situations.

- You're confident providing high-level personal care while maintaining each young person's dignity, privacy and independence.

- You have a strong understanding of trauma-informed practice, Positive Behaviour Support and person-centred disability support.

- You produce clear, accurate and professional documentation and understand its importance in achieving positive outcomes.

- You're recognised by colleagues as someone who contributes positively to practice, supports others and leads by example.

- You're committed to continually developing your qualified knowledge and capability.

Essential experience

Applicants must demonstrate substantial experience supporting children and young people with highly complex needs.

This includes experience working with children and young people who present with combinations of:

- Complex disability

- Developmental trauma

- Emotional dysregulation

- Behaviours of concern

- Mental health presentations

- Communication or sensory support needs

- High personal care requirements

Experience gained in one or more of the following settings will be highly regarded:

- Therapeutic Out-of-Home Care

- Complex disability services for children and young people

- Therapeutic residential care

- Supported Independent Living for children and young people

- Paediatric health or rehabilitation

- Youth Justice

- Intensive residential services

- Child and adolescent mental health services

As a guide, successful applicants will typically have at least five years' relevant frontline experience supporting children and young people with complex needs.

Qualifications

A Diploma or higher in one of the following disciplines is highly regarded:

- Community Services

- Child, Youth & Family Intervention

- Youth Work





- Disability

- Mental Health

- Nursing

- Social Work

- Psychology

- Occupational Therapy

- Another relevant discipline

Specialist training in areas such as Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI), Positive Behaviour Support, medication administration, restrictive practices or Mental Health First Aid will be highly regarded.

We also recognise that exceptional practitioners develop their expertise through a combination of formal qualifications, specialist training and extensive frontline experience. Applicants who can demonstrate advanced capability supporting children and young people with highly complex needs are encouraged to apply, even where their formal qualification differs from the above.

Essential requirements

- Current NSW Working With Children Check.

- NDIS Worker Screening Clearance (or willingness to obtain).

- Current unrestricted Australian Driver Licence.

- Current First Aid and CPR Certificate (or willingness to obtain).

- Willingness to complete police and probity checks.

- Australian working rights.
