Mike Reynolds Early Childhood Centre – Townsville QLD

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Educators to join our Centre

In this role, you will be guided and supported by our Lead Educator and Educational Leader and management team. This position focuses on preparing children for Kindergarten while fostering strong, supportive relationships with families through daily communication and engagement.

About Us

The Mike Reynolds Early Childhood Centre is a community-based, not-for-profit long day care service located in beautiful tropical Townsville, North Queensland.

Established in 1993, our centre includes a purpose-built Kindergarten and caters for up to 69 children each day. We are managed by a parent committee and Director, and we pride ourselves on our strong sense of community and commitment to delivering high-quality care and education.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the program in line with the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF)

Work closely with our permanent educators in the room





Support families through regular communication and day-to-day engagement

Plan, document and reflect on children’s learning

Maintain a safe and welcoming environment

Follow Centre policies and National Quality Framework requirements

Qualifications & Experience

To be eligible for the Assistant Educator role, applicants must hold either:

Certificate III of Early Childhood Education and Care or studying towards.

Additional Requirements:

Current Blue Card (QLD Working with Children Check)

Current First Aid, CPR, Asthma and Anaphylaxis certification (or willingness to obtain)

Experience working in a long day care setting

Sound understanding of EYLF and National Quality Standards

Clear and qualified communication skills

Paid 20-minute morning tea break

9-day fortnight available for Full Time employees

Above Award wages ($2 per hour above Award, based on qualifications and experience)

2 weeks closure over Christmas

No under roof ratios

Government Worker Retention Grant

Direct management model – no head office

Located a short walk from the beach
