Opening in 2027 in the heart of Caulfield, Shelford Campus will be Caulfield Grammar School’s newest Junior School. The campus will initially offer exceptional education for students in Prep and Years 4–6, before growing into a full Prep to Year 6 Junior School. This represents a once‑in‑a‑career opportunity for a founding teaching team to shape the culture and community from the ground up, delivering high‑impact learning in an outstanding purpose‑designed environment.

The Role

This is an exciting opportunity to inspire creativity and help establish an exceptional Visual Arts program at our new Shelford Campus. Reporting to the Deputy Head of Campus, the Junior School Art Teacher will work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver a contemporary, engaging Visual Arts program that reflects the School's values and commitment to excellence. Working with students from Prep to Year 6, you will create rich, hands‑on learning experiences that foster creativity, curiosity, confidence and artistic expression. Through a dynamic curriculum, you will support students to develop their technical skills, critical thinking and appreciation of the visual arts. As a founding member of the Shelford team,



you will play a key role in shaping a culture where creativity is celebrated, student work is proudly showcased, and every child is empowered to explore and express their ideas through art. This part‑time opportunity offers potential for additional hours in the future, aligned with the ongoing growth and development of the campus.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop and deliver an engaging Visual Arts program across the Junior School, promoting creativity, skill development and artistic confidence.
- Design and implement sequential learning experiences aligned to curriculum requirements, incorporating contemporary and inquiry‑based teaching practices.
- Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages creative risk‑taking and values student voice and expression.
- Assess and monitor student learning, providing timely and meaningful feedback to support growth and development.
- Differentiate teaching to meet the diverse needs, abilities and backgrounds of all students.
- Curate and coordinate student exhibitions, displays, events and special projects that celebrate Visual Arts across the School.
- Engage with artists to develop the “artist‑in‑residence" program for the campus.
- Collaborate with teachers and learning leaders to integrate Visual Arts across the curriculum and enhance student learning experiences.
- Maintain and manage Art resources, materials and learning spaces to support safe and effective teaching.
- Actively contribute to professional learning, collaboration and continuous improvement initiatives within the School.
- Demonstrate active involvement in School life, including co‑curricular opportunities where appropriate.
- Uphold the School’s commitment to Child Safety, ensuring the wellbeing, safety and dignity of all students at all times.
- Model and live the Caulfield Grammar School values and behaviours.

Skills And Qualifications

- Teaching qualifications with a specialisation in Visual Arts and Education.




- Current Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) registration.
- First Aid – Level 2 and Anaphylaxis qualifications (or willingness to obtain).
- Demonstrated experience teaching Visual Arts in a primary or junior school setting.
- Solid knowledge of curriculum and contemporary Art teaching practices.
- Proven ability to design and deliver engaging, differentiated learning programs that support diverse learners.
- Experience delivering creative, hands‑on and inquiry‑based learning experiences.
- Highly developed communication, organisational and time management skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff and the wider school community.
- Commitment to professional learning, reflective practice and continuous improvement.
- A passion for Visual Arts education and fostering creativity in young learners.
