Medical Scientist/Laboratory Technician - Histopathology - Fixed Term

The Role:
Clinipath Pathology is seeking experienced Medical Scientists or Technicians to join our Histology Department on an 18-month fixed-term contract, covering parental leave. This is a high-volume department offering a great opportunity to work within a collaborative, quality-focused team. Both full-time and part-time opportunities are available.
In this role, you will work across the complete histology workflow, including specimen reception, non-complex cut-up, embedding, microtomy, routine H&E; staining and special stains, and immunohistochemistry support. You’ll play a key role in producing high-quality tissue sections that enable pathologists to deliver life-changing diagnoses.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform microtomy and embedding to a high standard of accuracy and consistency
Process specimens in accordance with department SOPs and accreditation requirements (NATA, NPAAC, ISO 15189)
Contribute to the department's quality systems and continuous improvement initiatives
Work collaboratively within a large team environment to maintain turnaround times and service standards
About You:
Medical Scientist (AIMS accredited degree) or Technician (certificate IV in laboratory techniques or non-accredited AIMS degree in Medical Science)
Demonstrated hands‑on experience with microtomy and embedding is essential
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and accuracy
Ability to work effectively within a large, high-volume department
Sound understanding of laboratory quality and accreditation standards
