Overview

We are seeking a motivated Journalist to join our energetic team in Launceston, delivering Tasmania’s only local news hour.

Seven West Media, merged with Southern Cross Media Group, is one of Australia’s most prominent media companies with a market‑leading presence across television, radio, publishing and digital.

Responsibilities

Produce the state’s only one hour news service and work closely with the presenting team in Hobart, the studio team in Canberra, and production colleagues in Launceston.

- Develop and maintain positive relationships with key people and organisations.
- Break stories and create engaging content.
- Represent the Company in a professional and courteous manner.
- Maintain roster flexibility and willingness to work extra hours when the news day demands.

Qualifications

- Proven journalism and editorial skills.
- Solid understanding of media law and ethics.




- Competency in script writing in TV News format.
- Meticulous attention to detail with some experience in a newsroom.
- Driven and energetic, able to think clearly and act quickly under pressure.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate with stakeholders internally and externally.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment with tight deadlines.
