About the role

We are seeking a Commercial Litigation Lawyer with 3-5 years post qualification experience (PQE) to join our litigation team on a full-time basis in our Canberra office. This is an excellent opportunity for a talented lawyer who is seeking challenging and rewarding commercial litigation work. As a Commercial Litigation Lawyer, you will play a key role in managing matters from initial advice through to resolution, working alongside experienced practitioners to develop your litigation expertise.

What you'll be doing

Managing a range of commercial litigation matters, including case strategy development, pleadings preparation, and correspondence with opposing lawyers and counsel.

Conducting legal research and advising on commercial disputes, contractual issues, and liability matters.

Drafting court documents, including statements of claim, defences, interlocutory applications, and submissions.

Assisting with discovery, document review, and case preparation activities.

Conducting client meetings and providing clear, practical advice on dispute resolution options.

Representing clients in negotiations,



mediation, and where appropriate, court proceedings.

Liaising with counsel, expert witnesses, and other third parties involved in litigation matters.

Contributing to the development of legal precedent and commercial litigation practice within the firm.

What we're looking for

3-5 years post qualification experience in commercial litigation or dispute resolution

Someone who wishes to develop their own personal brand and grow their litigation practice.

Knowledge of civil procedure, evidence law, and commercial law principles

Proven experience in drafting court documents and legal submissions

Excellent research, analytical, and written communication skills

Ability to manage multiple matters and priorities effectively

Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and clients

Attention to detail and commitment to meeting tight deadlines

Experience in commercial litigation and dispute resolution

A current practising certificate with the Law Society ACT or equivalent professional standing
