Experienced NDIS Support Coordinator – Level 2
Brothers and Sisters in Arms Pty Ltd – Caboolture QLD
Experienced NDIS Support Coordinator – Level 2
Casual position | Approximately 16 hours per week
Moreton Bay, Queensland
SCHADS Social and Community Services Level 4.1—currently $58.38 per hour plus superannuation
Use your experience to support participants and help strengthen our practice
Brothers and Sisters in Arms is seeking an experienced NDIS Support Coordinator to join our growing Support Coordination team.
This position will deliver Level 2 Support Coordination while also contributing practical feedback and advice on documentation, reporting and internal systems.
The successful applicant will work directly with the General Manager and Director. You will be encouraged to share your knowledge, identify opportunities for improvement and contribute to the ongoing development of BASIA’s Support Coordination practices.
This is not a formal management or supervisory position. Final responsibility for staff management, organisational systems and operational decisions remains with the General Manager and Director.
This is also not an entry-level position. Direct NDIS Support Coordination experience and relevant disability-sector experience are essential.
Employment arrangements
This is a casual position initially offering approximately 16 hours per week.
The role will initially be on-site and community-based throughout the Moreton Bay region.
As the position, caseload and organisation develop, there may be opportunities for additional hours and a future hybrid working arrangement. Additional hours and hybrid work are not guaranteed and will depend on operational requirements, participant demand and demonstrated performance.
About Brothers and Sisters in Arms
Brothers and Sisters in Arms is a locally owned and registered NDIS provider supporting participants and families throughout the Moreton Bay region.
Our approach is practical, accountable and participant-led. We listen carefully, provide honest advice and follow through on the work we agree to complete.
We do not make decisions for participants, pressure people into particular services or lock them into predetermined pathways. Our role is to provide meaningful options, explain the implications and support participants to remain in control of their decisions.
About the role
As an experienced Level 2 Support Coordinator, you will work with participants, families, nominees, providers, allied health professionals, plan managers and the NDIA.
You will help participants understand and implement their NDIS plans, establish appropriate supports, monitor funding, address service gaps and gather evidence when needs or circumstances change.
You will also be invited to provide feedback and practical advice to the General Manager and Director on Support Coordination systems, reporting templates, documentation and workflows.
We are looking for someone who can work independently, recognise risks, prioritise effectively and follow agreed actions through to completion.
Key responsibilities
You will:
- Build respectful and professional relationships with participants, families and nominees.
- Help participants understand their NDIS plans, goals, funding and available options.
- Develop clear and participant-led plan implementation strategies.
- Connect participants with appropriate mainstream, community, informal and funded supports.
- Provide genuine provider choices and obtain consent before contacting services or taking action.
- Monitor budget utilisation and forecast whether supports are likely to last for the duration of a participant’s plan.
- Identify underspending, overspending, service gaps and emerging risks early.
- Help participants review support arrangements when funding is not being used sustainably or supports are not achieving their intended purpose.
- Maintain accurate provider, referral, consent, action and evidence records.
- Coordinate allied health reports and other evidence for participant check-ins, plan reassessments and change-of-situation requests.
- Prepare high-quality implementation, progress, review and end-of-plan reports.
- Support participants through service breakdowns, provider concerns and difficult stakeholder discussions.
- Recognise safeguarding, conflict-of-interest and duty-of-care concerns and escalate them appropriately.
- Maintain timely, factual and defensible case notes.
- Record and bill Support Coordination work accurately as it is completed.
- Participate in supervision, case reviews and team discussions.
- Share relevant knowledge and experience with other members of the Support Coordination team.
- Provide practical feedback on reporting templates, workbooks, checklists and documentation processes.
- Identify recurring problems or inefficiencies and recommend possible improvements to the General Manager and Director.
- Contribute to the consistent delivery of participant-led Support Coordination across BASIA.
Essential experience and capabilities
Applicants must have:
- Demonstrated direct experience delivering NDIS Level 2 Support Coordination.
- Relevant experience within the NDIS and disability-services sector.
- The ability to independently manage a Support Coordination caseload.
- Strong working knowledge of NDIS plans, funding categories and current NDIA processes.
- Experience monitoring participant budgets and projecting funding use across the duration of a plan.
- Experience preparing reports and gathering evidence for plan reassessments, participant check-ins and changes in circumstances.
- Strong written communication, report-writing and case-note skills.
- Confidence working with complex participant, family, provider, housing, health or safeguarding situations.
- The ability to identify problems and provide practical, professionally reasoned feedback.
- The confidence to share knowledge and contribute constructively during case discussions and practice reviews.
- Sound professional judgement and the ability to maintain appropriate boundaries.
- Competence using electronic client-management, reporting and documentation systems.
Applicants without relevant NDIS or disability-sector experience will not be considered.
A qualification in community services, disability, mental health, social work, psychology, allied health or another relevant discipline will be highly regarded.
Required checks and licences
The successful applicant must hold, or be willing and eligible to obtain:
- NDIS Worker Screening Clearance.
- Working with Children Check/Blue Card where required.
- National Police Check.
- Current Australian driver licence.
- Reliable access to an appropriately insured vehicle.
- Current working rights in Australia.
Work-related travel will be paid or reimbursed in accordance with the applicable industrial instrument and BASIA policy.
Employment conditions
- Casual employment.
- Approximately 16 hours per week initially.
- SCHADS Award—Social and Community Services Level 4, Pay Point 1.
- Current casual ordinary rate of $58.38 per hour plus superannuation.
- Initially on-site and community-based within the Moreton Bay region.
- Works directly with the General Manager and Director.
- Potential for additional hours as the position and caseload develop.
- Potential for a future hybrid working arrangement.
Why join Brothers and Sisters in Arms?
This position offers:
- Direct access to BASIA’s General Manager and Director.
- The opportunity to contribute ideas without carrying formal management responsibility.
- A gradually developed caseload and clear practice expectations.
- The prospect to help improve reporting, documentation and internal resources.
