About the Role
As the Line2 Compliance Lead for Operations (including BOQ’s collections and customer assistance teams), Technology, and Group functions (Finance, People, Group Risk), you will provide specialist compliance and conduct risk advice and insights, conduct independent reviews, and constructively challenge across key business activities, initiatives, issues and incidents. You will support business and Line1 Risk teams to ensure regulatory obligations are understood, assessed and managed under the Corporations Act, ASIC Act, National Credit Code, and the Banking Code of Practice.
You will work closely with business leaders, Line1 Risk and Line2 peers to support compliant business outcomes and embed BOQ’s compliance risk‑management framework. You will review and analyse risk events, compliance cases, customer remediation activity, obligation mapping, complaints and breach data, identify key themes, trends and focus areas, and provide insights and recommendations. The role includes escalating material compliance and conduct risk matters to senior stakeholders and governance forums. You will also contribute to the uplift of BOQ’s compliance risk‑management framework, policies and processes and build trusted stakeholder relationships. Additionally, you will lead, coach and develop direct reports to foster an engaged, high‑performing team and strengthen the compliance and conduct risk culture.
About You
You have at least ten years of experience in Line1 Risk or Line2 Compliance roles, with a strong background in banking or financial services. You possess extensive knowledge of financial services regulation, including National Credit Code obligations relevant to collections and hardship activities, and a deep understanding of risk, control and obligation management frameworks. You are able to navigate complex regulatory and change environments,
independently drive compliance initiatives and influence positive customer and business outcomes while balancing commercial realities.
You are a credible, pragmatic advisor who builds trusted relationships across all levels of an organisation, from frontline teams to senior executives and governance forums. You demonstrate solid stakeholder engagement, problem‑solving and time‑management skills, and communicate risk matters clearly and confidently to a range of audiences. Experience with GRC platforms is essential, and you are committed to fostering a strong risk culture in line with BOQ Group’s values.
