The Role : The Desktop Assessor reports to the Home Assessing Team Leader and is responsible for the end-to-end management of allocated claims. The role involves establishing the cause of damage, determining the scope and cost of repair to insured properties, and maintaining excellent customer service.
This is a full‑time position based at our Lidcombe office.
Responsibilities
- Conduct desktop assessments of insured properties using virtual assessing and/or causation reports provided by panel suppliers.
- Produce detailed reports, determining cause, coverage, damage, and best repair methods.
- Review scope of works and expert reports to ensure the most cost‑effective and timely method of repairs.
- Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including local authorities and third‑party building surveyors.
- Negotiate and define the scope of work and associated costing with key stakeholders.
- Manage claims from end to end, coordinating cost, quality, and service controls with the Claims Operations Team.
- Consistently adhere to key performance measures (KPI).
- Submit reports, review SOWs and documentation in a timely manner as per set SLA.
Qualifications
- Previous experience within the insurance, building, or construction industry highly desirable.
- Exceptional customer service and supplier relationship management experience.
- Ability to thrive in fast‑paced, high‑pressure environments.
- Experience preparing scope of works, quotes, and estimations is highly advantageous.
- Confidence using technology.
