We are seeking a Yardsman to join the team at doug and janelle johnston transport on a casual basis. Based in Archerfield QLD 4108, this role is integral to our warehouse, storage and distribution operations. As a Yardsman, you will be responsible for maintaining the efficiency and safety of our yard operations, ensuring vehicles, equipment and materials are properly organised, maintained and ready for dispatch. This position plays a vital role in supporting the smooth flow of our logistics operations and contributes directly to our commitment to delivering reliable transport and warehousing services.

Key responsibilities

Manage and organise the yard layout, ensuring vehicles and equipment are positioned for optimal efficiency and accessibility

Conduct routine inspections of vehicles and equipment to identify maintenance issues or damage

Maintain cleanliness and safety standards throughout the yard, including removal of debris and hazardous materials

Assist with loading and unloading of vehicles and cargo, working safely and efficiently

Monitor inventory of yard supplies and equipment, reporting shortages to management

Operate yard equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks and other machinery in a safe and competent manner

Support the documentation and tracking of vehicles entering and exiting the yard

Respond promptly to yard-related issues and report any safety concerns or damage immediately

Work collaboratively with transport and logistics teams to ensure seamless yard operations

What were looking for

Proven experience working in a warehouse, yard or distribution centre environment

Current or eligible forklift licence (or willingness to obtain one)





Strong understanding of health and safety practices relevant to yard and warehouse operations

Physical fitness and ability to perform manual labour tasks regularly

Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail

Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Clear communication skills and ability to follow instructions

Experience operating yard equipment and machinery is desirable

A current driver's licence is preferred
