About the role

Provide high-quality patient transport care in your community. Base rate $36.25 – $41.83 per hour, plus additional benefits. Join the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) in a full‑time role as an Ambulance Transport Attendant. Make a difference in your community by delivering compassionate, high‑quality patient care. In this position you will support people in your community by providing safe, professional non‑emergency patient transport between home, hospitals, and specialist appointments. RFDS has delivered vital aeromedical, emergency and primary health care across Australia since 1928. Through our Flying Doctor Patient Transport service we provide non‑emergency patient transport in Victoria and New South Wales, supporting patients with safe, compassionate care on the ground and in the air.

Key responsibilities

- Perform patient assessment and clinical interventions during road transport.
- Deliver safe, compassionate care aligned with RFDS clinical guidelines and NEPT regulations.
- Monitor patients and evaluate responses to treatment en‑route.
- Work collaboratively with a partner clinician in a team‑based model.

Qualifications and experience required

- Hold a full driver’s licence, be confident driving in both metropolitan and regional conditions, and have flexible availability to work shifts across seven days when required.
- Current or previous experience as an Ambulance Transport Attendant.
- Hold a Diploma of Paramedical Science (Ambulance), Bachelor of Health Science (Paramedic),



or an equivalent qualification for Ambulance Officers recognised by RFDS or DHHS.
- Evidence of successful completion of required clinical placements and a Clinical Skills Assessment, including a minimum of 400 hours of operational stretcher experience under the direct supervision of a clinical instructor.
- For Registered Nurses only:
- Must have AHPRA nursing registration, evidence of completed nursing graduate year, and documented work history within a hospital setting (Emergency Department, Cardiac Unit, High Dependency Unit, Intensive Care, Theatre).
- Or evidence of 400 clinically supervised hours within another registered ambulance service.
