We're seeking an experienced Residential Care Youth Worker to join our specialist trauma-informed team at our Morgan Road Residential Home in Wangaratta.

This is a permanent sleepover position supporting young people with complex behaviours and significant trauma histories within one of our highest-support residential environments.

Junction Support Services provides DFFH-funded Residential Care for young people who are unable to live safely with their families. Our residential homes provide safe, stable environments where young people are supported through trauma-informed care, consistency and meaningful relationships.

This role is best suited to experienced Residential Care Youth Workers who are confident working with complex behaviours and high therapeutic needs.

What Does a Sleepover Shift Look Like?

Our Sleepover Line offers a combination of active work and sleepover hours, providing the opportunity to make a difference while benefiting from excellent pay and penalties.

Typical Sleepover Shift Structure

- 5:00pm – 11:00pm: Active support shift (awake and working)
- 11:00pm – 7:00am: Sleepover period
- 7:00am – 9:00am: Active support shift (awake and working)

During your active hours, you'll support young people with evening and morning routines, meal preparation, household tasks, medication administration, therapeutic support, and creating a safe, stable home environment. During the sleepover period, you'll remain on-site and receive a sleepover allowance, with additional payments if support is required overnight.

Roster & Hours

- 54.5 hours per fortnight
- 7 sleepover shifts per fortnight
- A mix of weekdays and weekends
- Access to generous weekend penalty rates, night shift loading, and sleepover allowances

The Environment

Our Morgan Road home supports young people who require intensive therapeutic support due to complex trauma and behavioural needs.

Working in this home requires:

- Delivering consistent, trauma-informed support
- Following Behaviour Support Plans and therapeutic frameworks
- Confidence managing behaviours including verbal aggression, emotional dysregulation and escalation
- Solid situational awareness and proactive risk management
- Remaining calm, regulated and professional during challenging situations
- Working collaboratively within a structured therapeutic team

Your Role

As a Sleepover Residential Care Youth Worker, you'll help provide stability, safety and therapeutic care during the evening, overnight and morning routines.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Delivering trauma-informed, child-centred care
- Supporting evening and morning routines
- Preparing meals and maintaining a welcoming home environment
- Administering and documenting medication
- Responding using Behaviour Support Plans and therapeutic strategies
- Supporting meaningful activities that promote regulation and independence
- Completing case notes, incident reports and documentation to DFFH standards
- Working collaboratively with colleagues to provide consistent therapeutic care

Recruitment Process

Our recruitment process is structured to ensure the right fit for both you and our team.

Successful applicants will complete:

- Group interview
- Individual interview
- Mandatory compliance checks
- Two-day induction
- Five supported shadow shifts before working independently

Essential Requirements

- Certificate IV in Child, Youth & Family Intervention (or equivalent approved qualification)
- Experience working with young people
- Residential Out-of-Home Care experience is highly desirable
- Current Australian Driver Licence
- Victorian Employee Working with Children Check
- Current First Aid Certificate
- Willingness to complete a National Police Check (arranged by Junction)
- Commitment to ongoing trauma-informed learning and professional development

If you have lived outside Australia for 12 months or more during the last 10 years, you'll also need to provide a current International Police Check for each relevant country.

Applicants must complete the mandatory DFFH upskilling units within six months of commencement. If you are not an Australian citizen, personal fees may apply.
