Recruitment Officer

- Permanent / Full Time

- Monday to Friday, 72.5 hours per fortnight, 9 day fortnight

- $83,228 – $89,006 (LGIA Stream A Level 2) + Superannuation

- Location – Rockhampton

Your new role

In this role, you'll be involved in every stage of the recruitment process, providing valuable support to candidates, leaders, and the People and Capability team. From advertising positions and coordinating interviews to assisting with onboarding, you'll help deliver recruitment activities that are professional, productive, and candidate focused.

You'll gain exposure to a diverse range of roles and recruitment campaigns while developing a strong understanding of contemporary recruitment and talent acquisition practices. Working closely with experienced HR professionals, you'll build your skills in candidate management, stakeholder engagement, recruitment systems, talent sourcing, and employer branding.

You'll also support talent attraction initiatives, maintain recruitment records and databases, assist with talent pools, attend career and networking events, and contribute to projects that help attract, engage, and retain talented people across Council.

This is more than an administration role. It is an opportunity for someone who is genuinely passionate about Recruitment and Human Resources to gain hands-on experience across the full recruitment lifecycle and build a strong foundation for a rewarding long-term career.

This position requires the completion of a satisfactory Criminal History Check - Police Certificate (Australia Wide Name Only Police Check).

What we are looking for





- Qualifications in Human Resources, Business, Psychology, or a related discipline, or be currently completing relevant tertiary studies.

- A genuine passion for Recruitment and Talent Acquisition, with a desire to build a long-term career in HR.

- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong customer-focused approach.

- A keen eye for detail and a commitment to maintaining accurate records and documentation.

- The ability to build positive working relationships with candidates, employees, and leaders across Council.

- A proactive and professional approach, with a willingness to contribute and support the broader team.

- The ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of service.

- A passion for providing an exceptional candidate experience from application through to onboarding.

- A high level of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality.

Application Criteria

- Demonstrated experience supporting recruitment or human resources activities, with strong organisational skills & attention to detail.

- Experience assisting with recruitment processes, including advertising vacancies, coordinating interviews, candidate communications, pre-employment checks, and onboarding activities.

- Strong organisational, communication, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver a positive candidate experience.
