Hawkins Mechanical is seeking an experienced 4th apprentice or Motor Mechanic blue slip and pink slip tickets not essential but preferred to join our team in Lambton, NSW. This is a full time position offering a fantastic opportunity to work with a respected automotive business, delivering high-quality mechanical services to our valued customers. As a Motor Mechanic, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and repairing vehicles to the highest standards, ensuring customer satisfaction and safety. This role is based on-site at our Lambton workshop, where you will contribute to the day-to-day operations and help establish Hawkins Mechanical as a leading service provider in the local community.
What you'll be doing
Performing routine maintenance and servicing on motor vehicles, including oil changes, filter replacements, and fluid checks
Diagnosing mechanical faults and identifying issues using diagnostic tools and your technical expertise
Repairing and replacing faulty engine components, transmission systems, brakes, suspension, and electrical systems
Conducting thorough vehicle inspections and providing customers with detailed reports on necessary repairs
Testing repaired vehicles to ensure they meet safety and performance standards before handover to customers
Maintaining accurate records of work completed and parts used for each job
Adhering to all workplace health and safety regulations and best practice standards
Communicating effectively with customers about repair requirements, timeframes, and costs
Keeping workshop equipment clean, organised, and well-maintained
What we're looking for
Current Australian automotive trade qualification or equivalent certification as a Motor Mechanic
Proven experience working as a Motor Mechanic in a workshop environment, with a solid track record of quality work
Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve mechanical issues efficiently




Proficiency in using diagnostic equipment, workshop tools, and computerised vehicle systems
Knowledge of current vehicle makes and models, including both petrol and diesel engines
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship
Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical issues to customers in a clear and professional manner
A safety-conscious approach to work with full understanding of workshop health and safety requirements
Flexibility and willingness to support team members and assist with workshop operations
Preferred: Experience with hybrid or electric vehicle systems, and familiarity with modern diagnostic software
