Job Description
Abheights Solutions Group The Occupational Health & Safety Officer leads workplace health and safety across the business: developing and maintaining our WHS systems, identifying and controlling risk on rope access and height‐safety projects, and driving compliance and safety performance across every site.
This is a hands‐on leadership role: the successful candidate will set the standard for safety on our projects, train and guide field teams, and take ownership of compliance and safety outcomes company‐wide.

Task & responsibilities
Develop, implement and review workplace health and safety plans, policies and procedures across rope access and site‐based projects.
Identify hazards and assess and control risks across active projects, including confined space, height safety and technical rope access work.
Develop, implement and monitor programs minimising exposure to chemical and physical hazards across worksites.
Promote ergonomic principles across the workplace, matching equipment, tools and work activities to employee needs.
Inspect and audit workplaces, processes, plant and equipment for compliance with WHS legislation and Australian Standards.
Train field teams and technicians in the correct use of personal protective equipment and protected work procedures.
Record and investigate workplace injuries, incidents and equipment damage, and report on safety performance to management.
Coordinate the return of injured workers to the workplace, liaising with treating practitioners, insurers and management.
Prepare Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS), risk assessments and safety management plans for each project.
Liaise with clients,



project managers and site representatives on safety requirements and project delivery.
Qualification & experience
Minimum 1 year of experience in an occupational health and safety advisory role, gained in construction, industrial services or a related field.
Bachelor ́s degree in OHS or a closely related discipline.
Current IRATA Level 2 certification.
Experience identifying hazards and assessing and controlling risk across industrial or field‐based work sites.
Experience developing and delivering safety training, inductions or toolbox talks to field teams.
Sound working knowledge of WHS legislation, Australian Standards and safety compliance requirements.
Experience preparing SWMS, risk assessments and safety management documentation.
Experience investigating workplace incidents and coordinating injured workers' return to work.
Experience auditing plant, processes and equipment for legislative compliance.
Current driver's licence.
Strong communication, leadership and report‐writing skills.
Desirable: familiarity with the rope access, height safety or confined space industries; IRATA, Working at Heights, Confined Space Entry or First Aid/CPR certification.
