This is more than a transactional accounting role.As our Payroll Officer, you will play a critical role in supporting the day-to-day financial and payroll operations of the business, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across all processes.You'll be responsible for managing payroll processing, supporting accounts payable and receivable, maintaining financial records, and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and reporting requirements.Working closely with the Finance team and key stakeholders, you'll help maintain smooth operations while identifying opportunities to improve processes and systems.What You'll Be DoingIn this role you will:Process end-to-end payroll on a regular cycle (fortnightly and monthly for multiple entities), ensuring accuracy and timelinessMaintain employee payroll records, including recent starters, terminations, leave balances, and adjustmentsEnsure compliance with relevant legislation, awards, enterprise agreements, and tax requirementsProcess superannuation, PAYG withholding, payroll tax and payroll-related reconciliationsRespond to payroll-related queries from employees and stakeholders in a professional and timely mannerAssist with month-end and year-end financial processes, including journal entries and reconciliationsPrepare and reconcile bank, balance sheet, and payroll-related accountsSupport the accounts payable and receivable functions,



including liaising with creditors and processing paymentsAssist with the preparation of management reports, financial reports and audits (as required)Ensure accurate record keeping and documentation in line with regulatory requirements and maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial and employee informationAbout YouYou are a detail-oriented and reliable finance professional who takes pride in accuracy and efficiency.You enjoy working across both payroll and accounting functions and are confident managing competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.You'll bring:3+ years' experience in payroll and/or accounting rolesStrong understanding of Australian payroll legislation, including awards, tax, and superannuationHigh attention to detail and strong organisational skillsExcellent communication and stakeholder management skillsAbility to manage deadlines and handle sensitive information with confidentialityExperience using payroll and accounting systems (e.g. Xero, MYOB, or similar)A proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvementWhy Horizon?
