About the Position: The Automotive Technician (Motor Mechanic) is responsible for diagnosing, maintaining and repairing Mercedes-Benz and European vehicles to a high technical standard.This hands-on role is central to delivering reliable, dealership-level service without the dealership price tag, ensuring vehicles leave the workshop performing safely and smoothly while supporting the growth of a specialist independent business.Key Responsibilities: Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using advanced diagnostic equipment (including Xentry/ISTA and similar systems) and interpret live data and fault codes accurately.Perform scheduled logbook servicing and routine maintenance to manufacturer specifications.




Repair and replace components including engines, transmissions, braking systems, steering, suspension, cooling systems, clutches and related mechanical assemblies.
Carry out auto electrical repairs, battery/charging system diagnostics, and air conditioning inspections, leak testing and re-gassing.Dismantle, inspect, repair or replace worn or defective parts and reassemble components to correct specifications, referring to service manuals and technical data.
Road-test vehicles where required and verify repairs meet performance and safety standards.
Maintain a clean, organised and secure workshop environment, complete job cards accurately and communicate findings clearly to the business owner/customers.Source and fit OEM or equivalent high-grade parts and support transparent quoting processes.
Requirements: Australian citizens and permanent residents are encouraged to apply.Certificate III in Automotive Technology, Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology, or an equivalent recognised qualification.
Minimum 4 years' experience as a qualified Automotive Technician / Motor Mechanic.
Strong technical skills in diagnosing and repairing modern European vehicles, including familiarity with electronic control systems and diagnostic software.Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving ability, clear communication skills and a professional, customer-focused approach.
Ability to work independently, follow manufacturer procedures, and maintain high standards of workmanship and workshop safety.
