Wollongong

At Avina, we believe the best clinicians are supported by experienced mentors, encouraged to ask questions and given opportunities to develop at their own pace.
Our Wollongong team has built a reputation for doing exactly that.
We're looking for an Early Career Occupational Therapist to join one of Avina's most established multidisciplinary teams.
Whether you're a recent graduate or have a year or two of experience, you'll be surrounded by clinicians who genuinely enjoy helping each other succeed.
Why Join the Wollongong Team?
The Wollongong team is known for its supportive culture, experienced clinicians and collaborative approach to care.
Many of our team members have worked together for over four years, creating a welcoming environment where you'll quickly feel part of the team.
You'll work alongside experienced Occupational Therapists, Behaviour Support Practitioners, Speech Pathologists, Psychologists and Social Workers who are passionate about sharing their knowledge and helping early career clinicians grow.
Several clinicians provide supervision or are progressing towards that pathway, meaning mentorship and professional development are built into everyday practice—not just your scheduled supervision sessions.
Live and Work in Beautiful Wollongong
Our modern office is centrally located, just minutes from Wollongong Central, cafés, restaurants and the beach.
The team regularly gets together for:
Team lunches

Dinner and social events
We're proud of the supportive culture we've created and genuinely enjoy celebrating successes together.

You'll work closely with families, teachers and support networks to develop practical, meaningful strategies that help children achieve their goals.
As your confidence grows, you'll have opportunities to expand your clinical interests and contribute to new service initiatives, including future group programs.
What Your Week Could Look Like
No two days are the same.
You could be:
Supporting a child at school to improve classroom participation
Delivering therapy sessions in our modern clinic
Visiting families at home to develop practical daily living strategies
Working with parents and educators to build confidence and independence
Collaborating with Speech Pathologists, Behaviour Support Practitioners and Psychologists on shared participants
Participating in peer supervision and multidisciplinary case discussions
Learning from experienced clinicians who are invested in your success

Starting out in community practice can feel overwhelming—but it doesn't have to.
At Avina you'll receive:
Regular clinical supervision
Peer supervision every fortnight
Ongoing mentoring from experienced clinicians
Opportunities to shadow colleagues across disciplines
Support with clinical reasoning and report writing
A team-oriented office environment where asking questions is encouraged

Our goal is to help you become the clinician you want to be.

Current AHPRA registration (or eligibility)
Passion for working with children and families
Strong communication and organisational skills
A collaborative, person-centred approach
Current driver's licence and access to a reliable vehicle
NDIS Worker Screening Check and Working With Children Check (or willingness to obtain)
