Lead Support Worker - Residential Care

Mpower is seeking an experienced and capable Lead Support Worker to join our growing Residential Care team in a part-time capacity.
This is an exciting opportunity for a confident and compassionate professional to provide leadership within a therapeutic residential care environment and support children and young people to thrive.

Established in ****, the operation of Mpower hasgrown from a small voluntary service to an accredited agency employing morethan 100 staff, providing a range of clinical and support services to over ****families regionally.

About the Role
As a Lead Support Worker, you will play a key role in leading and supporting shifts within our Residential Care program.
You will provide hands‐on leadership, guide Support Workers, assist with decision‐making, and model best practice in therapeutic and trauma‐informed care.
Working with children and young people who may present with complex needs and behaviours, you will help create a secure, stable and nurturing home environment while supporting the development of life skills, independence and positive outcomes.
This role operates across a 24/7 roster,



and may include sleepovers, active nights, weekends,and public holidays.
Key Responsibilities
Lead shifts within a residential care setting
Providing guidance, direction, and support to Support Workers
Managing incidents and responding to behaviours of concern
Ensuring accurate and timely documentation and reporting
Supporting the implementation of care plans and therapeutic frameworks
Acting as the key escalation point during shifts
Promoting a safe, stable, and nurturing home environment
About You
You are an experienced residential care worker who can remain calm under pressure, lead by example and build positive relationships with both young people and colleagues.
You will ideally demonstrate:
Experience working in residential care, out‐of‐home care, youth work, disability services or a related field
Strong understanding of trauma‐informed and therapeutic approaches
Confidence leading shifts and making sound decisions in dynamic environments
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
The ability to manage complex situations and behaviours in a calm and consistent manner
A genuine commitment to the safety,



wellbeing and development of children and young people
Highly Regarded
A Certificate IV in Child, Youth & Family Intervention (or a higher relevant qualification)
Demonstrated experience in a Lead Support Worker or similar senior position
Experience supporting children and young people with complex needs and behaviours
Also considered:
Experienced Disability Support Workers or Residential Care Support Workers looking to take the next step into a leadership role and willing to undertake or transition into relevant qualifications.
