We're looking for an experienced Accounts Payable Officer to join our Finance team.
Based in our beautiful Newcastle CBD office, this role plays an important part in ensuring our tour-related and overhead creditor accounts are accurately reconciled and paid on time.
Working closely with our Finance team, internal stakeholders and external suppliers, you'll help keep our accounts payable processes running smoothly while providing a high level of service to our business partners.
This is a great opportunity for someone who is highly organised, detail-oriented and enjoys working as part of a team-oriented Finance team.
What you'll be doing
Reconcile and process tour-related invoices and statements in line with contracted rates.
Reconcile and process creditor invoices relating to company overheads.
Ensure reconciled invoices are paid accurately and within required timeframes.
Process electronic funds transfers accurately and on schedule.
Liaise professionally with external suppliers and accounts receivable teams regarding payment queries and issues.
Investigate and resolve invoice, payment and reconciliation discrepancies in a timely manner.
Ensure outstanding invoices and reconciliation issues are followed up and actioned prior to month end.
Support the team in achieving month-end targets and expenditure budgets.
Maintain accurate records and ensure all payments and invoices are processed correctly.
Identify opportunities to improve processes and work with the Manager to implement improvements.
Provide support and backup across the Finance team when required.
Participate in team meetings, performance reviews and other Finance activities as required.
About you




You'll be an experienced Accounts Payable professional who takes pride in accuracy, organisation and delivering excellent service.
You'll be confident managing competing priorities and comfortable communicating with both internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
You'll also bring:
3+ years' experience in an Accounts Payable environment.
Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in data entry and reconciliation.
Excellent time management and organisational skills.
Strong communication and customer service skills.
A proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
The ability to work collaboratively and contribute positively to team culture.
High levels of integrity, discretion and professionalism.
Intermediate Microsoft Excel and Word skills, with experience using Outlook.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
It would be advantageous if you also have:
An understanding of broader accounting principles, including General Ledger and Accounts Receivable.
Experience processing foreign currency payments and transactions.
Previous experience within the travel or tourism industry.
