We listen and understand the specific needs of our clients and deliver a complete value chain of services to provide sustainable solutions across major infrastructure projects worldwide.The RoleAs an Associate Civil Engineer - IV & Construction Services, you will provide technical leadership and construction phase expertise across major infrastructure projects.
Working closely with clients, contractors and multidisciplinary project teams,
you will play a key role in ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with contractual, technical and quality requirements.
You will combine strong engineering capability with contract administration, project delivery and stakeholder management expertise, supporting successful outcomes throughout the construction lifecycle.
As a senior member of the team, you will also contribute to mentoring engineers, strengthening client relationships, and driving project performance across a portfolio of infrastructure projects.
This role offers the opportunity to work at the interface of design and construction while influencing project outcomes, supporting team development, and contributing to the continued growth of SMEC's Infrastructure business.Key ResponsibilitiesLead the delivery of construction phase engineering services across major infrastructure projectsEnsure technical outputs meet client, contractual and SMEC quality standardsCollaborate with contractors, clients and project teams to deliver coordinated project outcomesProvide technical guidance and mentoring to engineers and project team membersApply project management principles to achieve programme, cost and quality objectivesAdminister contracts and issue directions to contractors in accordance with project requirementsReview, assess and negotiate variation claims and contractual mattersMonitor and report on project progress, quality, safety, time and cost performanceIdentify,
manage and mitigate project risks throughout the construction phaseBuild and maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships to support successful project delivery and future opportunitiesAbout YouYou are an experienced Civil Engineer with a strong background in infrastructure delivery and construction phase services.You bring a commercial mindset, excellent stakeholder management skills and the ability to provide technical leadership across complex projects.10+ years' experience in civil engineering within major infrastructure projectsA Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)RPEQ or Chartered status, or a commitment to obtaining registration.Demonstrated experience delivering construction phase services within a consulting or client-side environmentStrong technical capability across civil and transport infrastructure projectsExperience administering contracts and managing contractor interfaces during project deliveryProven ability to manage project risks, resolve complex technical issues and deliver strong client outcomesExperience leading project teams and mentoring engineers and technical professionalsExcellent client relationship and stakeholder management skillsStrong commercial awareness and an understanding of project performance driversExperience managing multiple projects and competing priorities while meeting deadlinesStrong report writing, proposal preparation and communication skillsA proactive leadership style with the ability to influence project outcomes and drive continuous improvement across delivery teamsWhy Townsville?
