We are looking for an experienced Data Engineer to join our team at our Norwest Head Office.
A newly created opportunity, you will be designing, building and maintaining the data pipelines, integrations and data stores that make CPG's data available, reliable and ready for analysis, reporting and AI.
What you will do?
The role acquires and prepares data from across the application landscape – consuming vendor APIs and database extracts (CPG consumes, it does not build, APIs) – and builds the data foundations that powers business intelligence, analytics and AI agents.
Working closely with the Data Analyst and the Data & Analytics Manager, the Data Engineer also actively builds and supports AI and automation solutions, ensuring the underlying data is well-modelled, governed, secure and performant.
Microsoft SQL Server is central to the role, which is hands‐on and delivery-focused within a small, growing data team.
Your Day To Day Duties Will Include
Designing and building data pipelines, integrations and data structures
Identifying and resolving data quality, performance and integration issues
Recommending improvements to data engineering processes and tooling
Design, build, test and maintain data pipelines and ETL processes to acquire and prepare data
Monitor and optimise pipeline performance, reliability and scalability
Build integration components to consume vendor APIs and database extracts (e.g. construction, finance and CRM systems)
Implement improvements to integration processes and tools
Develop and maintain logical and physical data models for warehouse and reporting purposes
Maintain and support databases (primarily Microsoft SQL Server) that store and serve data
Identify, elevate and remediate data-quality issues
Support data governance and master-data activities for assigned domains

Prepare and maintain reliable data sources that support Power BI and reporting
Actively contribute to building, deploying and maintaining AI and automation solutions with the team
Ensure pipelines and data stores meet baseline security and privacy requirements.
About you?
We Are Looking For Someone With
Demonstrated experience leading a data and analytics function or team (construction or property industry highly desirable)
5–10 years' experience across data management, business intelligence, analytics and data engineering
Proven delivery of analytics, data platform and/or AI initiatives that produced measurable business value
Experience establishing data governance, quality and ethical-use practices
Strong knowledge of data management, governance and master data management practices
Data engineering, pipelines/ETL, data modelling and warehousing concepts Cloud data platform strategy and delivery (e.g. Azure or AWS) spanning data storage, pipelines, analytics and AI services; specific platform direction to be confirmed
Microsoft SQL Server is a core requirement; strong SQL and relational database skills
Machine learning, AI agents and automation concepts and their responsible application
Awareness of consuming vendor APIs and database extracts for data acquisition
Strategic thinker who is equally comfortable being hands‐on
