Reports To: Head Office / Operations Manager / DirectorEmployment Type: Full-TimePosition OverviewThe Area Manager – Melbourne is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations, performance, and development of all company fragrance stores across the Melbourne region.The role requires a strong and experienced leader who can manage multiple locations, support Store Managers and staff, drive sales and customer service standards, maintain brand presentation, and ensure all stores operate efficiently and consistently in line with company expectations.The Area Manager will act as the key link between Head Office and the Melbourne stores, ensuring that company policies, procedures, sales strategies, operational standards, and business objectives are effectively communicated and implemented across all locations.Key ResponsibilitiesStore Operations & PerformanceOversee the daily operations of all company fragrance stores across Melbourne.Conduct regular store visits and operational audits to ensure stores are performing to company standards.Monitor store sales, budgets, KPIs, and overall business performance.Identify areas for improvement and implement strategies to increase sales and profitability.Ensure all stores are adequately staffed and operating efficiently.Ensure stores maintain high standards of cleanliness, organisation, and presentation.Monitor stock levels, testers, displays, and product availability across all locations.Work closely with Head Office and the warehouse team to ensure stock is managed and distributed effectively.Ensure company procedures and operational policies are consistently followed.Lead, support, and motivate Store Managers and retail teams across Melbourne.Provide guidance and coaching to Store Managers to help them achieve their individual and store targets.Hold Store Managers accountable for store performance, staff management, and operational standards.Assist with recruitment, onboarding, training, and development of staff where required.Ensure all team members receive appropriate product knowledge and sales training.Support Store Managers with staff performance management and workplace issues.Promote a positive, respectful, professional,



and productive workplace culture.Communicate expectations clearly and ensure staff understand their responsibilities.Drive sales growth across all Melbourne stores.Develop and implement strategies to improve sales performance and achieve company targets.Monitor individual store and staff sales performance.Ensure exceptional customer service standards are maintained across all locations.Ensure staff have solid knowledge of fragrances, products, promotions, and company offerings.Identify opportunities to increase customer engagement, sales conversion, and repeat business.Support stores during key promotional periods, new product launches, and major sales campaigns.Visual Merchandising & Brand StandardsEnsure all stores consistently reflect the company's brand image and visual merchandising standards.Monitor fragrance displays, cabinets, testers, signage, promotional material, and product placement.Ensure stores are presented to a high standard and remain visually appealing to customers.Work with Store Managers to maintain consistent presentation across all locations.Identify and communicate opportunities to improve store layouts and customer experience.Stock & Inventory ManagementMonitor stock levels across all Melbourne stores.Ensure stock is correctly received, organised, displayed, and secured.Monitor tester availability and ensure products are not unnecessarily opened without approval.Identify stock shortages, overstock, damaged products, and inventory discrepancies.Work closely with warehouse and Head Office teams to coordinate stock transfers and replenishment.Assist in investigating stock discrepancies and implementing improved stock control procedures.Communication & ReportingMaintain regular communication with Head Office and senior management.Provide regular updates and reports on store performance, staffing, sales, stock, and operational issues.Communicate company announcements, policies, procedures, and expectations to Store Managers and staff.Escalate significant operational, staffing, customer, or compliance issues to senior management.Provide feedback from stores to Head Office and contribute ideas for improving business operations.Ensure Store Managers complete required reports and administrative responsibilities accurately and on time.Training & DevelopmentAssist in developing and delivering staff training programs.Ensure all staff have appropriate product and fragrance knowledge.Train and coach Store Managers in leadership, sales, customer service,



and operational procedures.Identify high-performing employees and support their professional development.Ensure new employees receive appropriate onboarding and understand company expectations.Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)Sales growth across all Melbourne storesAchievement of individual store budgets and targetsCustomer service and sales conversionStore profitability and operational efficiencyStaff performance and productivityEmployee retention and team developmentStock accuracy and inventory controlStore presentation and visual merchandising standardsCompliance with company policies and proceduresCompletion of operational and performance reportsOverall customer experience and brand standardsSkills & ExperiencePrevious experience in area management, multi-site retail management, or a senior retail leadership position.Experience managing multiple retail locations and teams.Strong leadership and people-management skills.Excellent communication and organizational skills.Strong sales and commercial awareness.Experience working with sales targets and KPIs.Strong problem-solving and decision‐making abilities.The ability to work independently while maintaining strong communication with Head Office.A high level of accountability, professionalism, and initiative.Experience in fragrance, beauty, fashion, or specialty retail is highly desirable.A current driver's license and the ability to travel between Melbourne stores as required.Personal AttributesA strong and positive leader.Highly organised and reliable.Proactive and solutions-focused.Confident when managing people and difficult situations.Passionate about sales and customer service.Commercially minded and results-driven.Approachable and supportive while maintaining clear expectations.Able to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.Committed to maintaining high standards across every store.A strong ambassador for the company's brand, values, and culture.Overall ObjectiveThe primary objective of the Area Manager – Melbourne is to ensure that every store within the Melbourne region operates at a consistently high standard, achieves its sales and operational targets, provides an exceptional customer experience, and maintains the company's brand standards.The Area Manager is expected to lead by example, develop strong Store Managers and teams, identify opportunities for growth, and work closely with Head Office to ensure the continued success and growth of the company's Melbourne operations.
