Marine Engine Driver (MED 1 or MED 2) – Aquaculture OperationsStehr Group is one of Australia's leading seafood companies, specialising in Southern Bluefin Tuna ranching and offshore operations.We are currently seeking a Marine Engine Driver (MED 1 or MED 2) to join our team in Port Lincoln.
This is a hands-on role supporting vessel operations year-round, including preparation for and participation in the fishing season.Seasonality & RosterThis role is Port Lincoln-based year-round, with work varying by season.
During fishing season (typically Jan-Apr), vessels operate offshore with trips around 1–2 weeks at a time.
Outside fishing season, work is generally local vessel operations, tuna transfer / feeding / harvesting support, and planned maintenance.
Rosters vary depending on operations and weather.The RoleYou'll be responsible for day-to-day operation and maintenance of vessel engines and machinery, working with the Vessel Maintenance Manager and crew.Typical duties include:Operation and maintenance of main engines and auxiliary systemsPre-checks, start-ups, servicing and record-keepingFault-finding and basic repairs (including hydraulics and deck equipment)Preparing vessels for sea and supporting fishing/towing operationsGeneral vessel upkeep and housekeepingPay & EngagementPay varies by season and engagement type.
Local operations are paid hourly (with overtime and penalties), while offshore periods are paid on a daily sea rate (where applicable).
The role typically commences as casual, with a pathway to full time or salary for the right candidate.
