We are seeking a motivated, hands-on
Livestock Operations Overseer
to lead and implement all cattle operations across a progressive mixed farming enterprise in Bonshaw NSW.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about livestock performance, pasture management, and practical on-farm leadership.
About Girraween Properties
We are a successful, family-owned farming business with centre-pivot irrigation of summer crops (cotton & corn) and a beef cattle breeding, trading & fattening enterprise in the Bonshaw/Texas area.
The farm is based in the Goondiwindi and Inverell local government areas.
The livestock operation consists of an Angus breeding herd joined to Angus & Wagyu bulls in an intensively managed subtropical grazing system, along with native pastures.
Progeny along with trade cattle are finished on irrigated and dryland forage crops.
Girraween operates with up-to-date machinery and watering systems, embracing new technologies, sustainable farming & grazing methods.
The family business has been in a period of strong growth & development with a fantastic small team and a mix of autonomy & shared work.
Girraween has first-class livestock handing facilities.

Girraween borders the Dumaresq River (numerous fishing & recreational spots on farm) and Bonshaw village & school.
The farm is 20 mins from the friendly community of Texas, with schools and bus run.

The Role
Reporting to and working closely with the General Manager Owner, you will lead the Cattle enterprise, with hands on responsibility for the timely execution of all cattle activities as your primary role.




The role offers variety with occasional support of broader farm operations.
You will work closely with the cropping team to align labour, planning, and seasonal priorities across the business.
The role can be tailored to suit experience & has potential for increased scope and responsibility.
You will have the opportunity to expand your skills & knowledge, working closely with the owner along with having professional development opportunities where relevant, focussed on the objective of expanding the cattle operation and increasing business returns from the production of premium quality beef.
Key Responsibilities
• All animal health and husbandry including health treatments, preg-testing, joining, marking, weighing, and weaning, feed budgeting, grazing planning, and NLIS management
• Implementation of high-density rotational grazing systems to optimise pasture and livestock performance
• Low-stress livestock handling & supervision, coordination & training of staff assisting with livestock tasks
• Livestock data and inventory management (AgriWebb ) including weights, growth rates, condition scores, breeding cycles, treatments, paddock movements and pasture assessments
• Maintenance of fencing and water infrastructure
• Assisting with cropping and property development when required




About You
• You can demonstrate low stress livestock handling & management experience
• You have experience targeting & measuring weight gains through grazing management
• You are a great communicator, with strong analytical & management experience in a livestock enterprise
• You have interest & experience/ willingness to learn about intensive grazing management systems
• You are competent with farm technology and record-keeping systems such as Agriwebb
• You have willingness to learn and grow with the business
• You have clean living habits, a passion for the livestock industry, & interest in becoming part of the local community
• If you have working dogs this would be a strong advantage and mechanical & fencing skills would also be advantageous
A current drivers licence is essential for this position
