Located in a family-friendly community venue in Perth's southern suburbs, The Ponds Bistro has built a reputation for quality food, great service, and a welcoming atmosphere.
From our popular weekly specials and events to our expanding menu offerings, we're continuing to grow and are looking for the right person to grow with us.
Our philosophy is simple – serve quality food with consistency, creativity and pride.
We're seeking a chef who can bring their own flair to the kitchen while working alongside our established team in a fast-paced environment.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to further their career, with a clear pathway to progress into a
Sous Chef role
for the right candidate.
What We're Looking For
Experience
Minimum 2 years' experience in a Chef or Chef de Partie role, with experience in a busy pub, bistro, restaurant or hospitality environment preferred.
Commitment
We're looking for someone who wants to become a valued part of our team and is seeking a long-term opportunity with genuine career progression.
Work Ethic
A positive, reliable chef who is comfortable working 38 hours per week, including nights and weekends, and can thrive in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
Can-Do Attitude
Someone who remains calm under pressure, brings energy to the team, and takes pride in producing high-quality food every service.
Communication & Teamwork
Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a close-knit kitchen team.
Creativity
An interest in contributing to menu development, specials, functions and new ideas as we continue to grow the business.
What You'll Do




Prepare and present quality meals with consistency and attention to detail.
Support the day-to-day operation of a busy kitchen.
Maintain exceptional food safety, hygiene standards.
Assist with stock control, ordering and minimising waste.
Contribute ideas for menu items, specials and functions.
Help train and support junior team members.
Work closely with the Head Chef to maintain a positive and high-performing kitchen culture.

Our focus at The Ponds is to deliver exceptional customer service by ensuring high-quality food preparation and presentation and maintaining a positive work environment.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
Lead, train, and inspire a high performing back-of-house team
Knowledge of best practices for training kitchen staff and implementing kitchen procedures
Maintain compliance with licensing, health, and safety regulations
Strong technical cooking skills and a deep understanding of various cuisines and cooking methods.
High level of creativity and reliability
Ability to create a-la-carte & function menus
Experience in fast-paced a-la-carte cooking
Ability to roster via Tanda and manage a busy kitchen
Flexible schedule and weekend availability required
