Job Type: Permanent position | Full time positionJob DescriptionAbout the PositionThis position supports the practical implementation of horticultural production programs, including land preparation, operating programs, production inputs, machinery use, irrigation, crop protection and harvesting activities.
Occupation TasksEnsure all land preparations are completed in accordance with established procedures.Train and monitor operators where required to ensure tasks are completed in line with standard operating procedures.Prepare daily, weekly and monthly work programs to facilitate implementation of required production tasks.Assess the quality of work and take corrective action where applicable.Ensure all material inputs are adequate for the relevant operations.Ensure the upkeep of tractors and implements used in production operations.Liaise with the Farm Operations Manager, Agronomist and Maintenance Manager where required.Operate tractors and implements required for horticultural production.Identify and report unusual disease or plant pest signs.Operate pressurised irrigation systems.Prepare and apply chemicals to control pests,



weeds and diseases in accordance with approved procedures.Coordinate horticultural crop harvesting.Fumigate soil where required and authorised.Manage and install drainage systems.Monitor and manage nursery plants.Operate spreading and seeding equipment.Hand planting seeds (crop specific)Machine planting seed/transplants (crop specific)Operate harvesting tractor and over-see 6 staffInstallation of drip IrrigationRemoval of drip IrrigationIrrigation testing/maintenanceCrop monitoringRecord keeping- harvesting and planting records for Organic Certification AuditsTraining of any current staffSkills, Experience, QualificationsRelevant AQF Certificate III or Certificate IV qualifications orEquivalent; or 3 years employment experience as a production horticulturalist with relevant formal training; or5 years employment experience as a production horticulturalist with no formal training.Market Salary $75,000- $80,000 per annum plus superannuation
