Role Description
This full-time Criminal and Child Protection Lawyer role is based in Geelong and will require travel to other regional and suburban courts.
Day-to-day responsibilities include file management and advocacy in criminal and child protection proceedings and preparing court documents.
Qualifications Admission as a lawyer in Australia and a current or eligible practising certificate in Victoria.Experience or strong interest in criminal law, child protection,



and related advocacy work.Sound skills in legal research, case analysis, and preparation of court documents and correspondence.Effective client communication skills, including the ability to explain legal issues clearly and work with clients from diverse backgrounds.Strong file management, time management, and organisational skills to handle competing priorities.Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a small legal team and with external stakeholders.Commitment to ethical practice, access to justice, and trauma-informed, culturally sensitive service delivery.Willingness to appear regularly in court, travel as required, and engage in ongoing professional development.Experience with legal practice management software and standard office applications is desirable.Previous experience in community legal, legal aid, or similar settings is an advantage but not essential.
