Senior Mining Engineer – UndergroundFinniss Lithium Operation – Northern Territory | Residential Darwin FIFO Initially Considered Short-Term | Relocation Support Offered
Core Lithium Limited has reached Final Investment Decision (FID), marking the official restart of the Finniss Lithium Operation and the next phase of growth.
As we power back into production, this is an opportunity to be part of recharging a critical operation at the centre of the global battery supply chain.
With open pit mining recommencing and underground development at the BP33 deposit about to begin, we are seeking an experienced Senior Mining Engineer to play a key role in establishing and supporting the underground mining function through development, production and long-term ramp-up.
This is a rare chance to join an underground operation at the very beginning, helping shape systems, processes, and standards from early development through to full-scale production, while taking ownership of a long-term role offering significant autonomy, variety, and influence within an exciting underground lithium operation.
While our long-term preference is for the successful candidate to relocate to Darwin and become part of the Finniss team, we understand relocation takes time.
An initial FIFO arrangement can be considered while suitable accommodation is secured, with relocation assistance provided.
About the Role
Reporting directly to the Mining Manager, the Senior Mining Engineer will be a full-time position, long term working on a 5/2 roster, with an initial FIFO period available prior to relocation to Darwin if needed.
You will be responsible for providing technical leadership across underground development and production engineering while supporting the successful transition from underground development into full production.
Working within a small technical team, you will collaborate closely with geology, survey, planning,
operations and underground mining contractors to deliver safe, practical and efficient mining outcomes.
Key responsibilities will include:

About You
We are open to considering candidates from a range of seniority levels, provided you bring strong underground mining experience and the ability to operate effectively within a developing underground operation.
You will ideally bring:
Experience within underground hard rock mining operationsDemonstrated experience in underground mine design and production supportStrong understanding of underground development, stoping, and production processesExperience with short-term planning, scheduling, and operational integrationExposure to ventilation planning and underground operational requirementsExperience in drill and blast design and optimisationStrong reconciliation and reporting capabilitiesAbility to work independently and confidently within a small technical teamStrong stakeholder engagement and contractor management skillsExperience using Deswik and/or similar underground mine planning softwareA proactive and hands-on approach with a strong sense of ownership and accountabilityPreference will be given to candidates with exposure to underground backfill systems, including cemented rock fill (CRF) and paste fill design and operational integration.
About Core LithiumAt Core Lithium, you won't be stepping into a mature underground operation where systems, processes, and ways of working are already established.
Instead, you'll have the opportunity to be part of building the BP33 underground mine from the ground up, contributing to the development of the standards, systems, and technical frameworks that will underpin a safe, productive, and successful operation for years to come.
Working within a lean and highly collaborative team, you'll enjoy broad exposure across mine planning, underground development, production, technical services, contractors, and operational leadership.
Your ideas and expertise will be valued, and your contribution will have a genuine impact on how the underground operation evolves.
