About the Role
We are seeking Expressions of Interest from Geologists with a passion for mapping and exploration to join our Interpretation Team.
The primary task will be to integrate geological, geophysical and geochemical data sets and compile interpretation maps and exploration targets for our clients.
SGC's client base is largely involved with (worldwide) mineral exploration, so the position provides the opportunity to be exposed to a wide range of commodities in a wide range of geological settings.
Projects in sedimentary basin exploration, groundwater and general mapping are also likely to be included in the position's responsibilities.
A solid grasp of mineralised environments and skills in structural geology would be desirable for the position, but we are open to considering both early-career geologists through to senior technical specialists.
The essential pre-requisite is an appetite for integrating high quality geophysical data (principally but not exclusively) aeromagnetics with geology and geochemical data, to help guide our clients in their exploration.
Key Responsibilities
Integrate geological, geophysical, geochemical and drilling datasets to generate exploration targets.
Interpret and model geological structures, particularly those relating to mineralisation.
Collaborate with geophysicists, resource geologists and exploration teams to advance projects.
Field work, mapping, core logging and exploration project management.
Prepare technical reports, presentations and exploration recommendations.
Assist with writing cost effective client proposals.
Other general responsibilities
Contribute to building SGC's technical knowledge base and keep up to date with new techniques/methods.
Represent SGC at industry meetings, conferences,



and events and actively network with industry personnel to promote SGC services and products.
Generate case studies and technical presentations for conferences and marketing purposes.
Build and maintain good working relationships with colleagues and clients.
Essential Skills & Experience
Degree in Geology, Earth Sciences or related discipline.
Solid understanding of structural geology and its application to mineral exploration.
Some experience interpreting magnetic datasets and integrating geophysical data into geological models.
Proficiency with geological modelling and GIS software (e.g., Leapfrog, Micromine, ArcGIS, QGIS or similar).
Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
Valuable project management skills
Good time management and organisation skills
Member of either the Australian Institute of Geoscientists or Member of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy
