Due to continued business growth and increasing production requirements, we are seeking an experienced Printing Machinist – Film Blowing Operations to join our film department on a full-time permanent basis.
About the Role
Reporting to the Production Manager, the successful applicant will be responsible for operating, setting up and monitoring specialised industrial machinery within the film department of our recycling and manufacturing operation.
The role requires hands‐on film blowing experience, strong attention to quality control, and the ability to identify different polymer types and assess film material quality.
Tasks may also be allocated to recycling lines when required to support broader production requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Set up, calibrate and adjust film blowing and industrial production machinery before production runs.
Operate and monitor film blowing equipment to ensure consistent product quality.
Configure machine settings to meet production specifications.
Monitor machine performance throughout production.
Conduct quality inspections and ensure finished film products meet customer specifications.
Identify different polymer types and understand their suitability for film production.
Carry out quality control checks on film material, including appearance, consistency, contamination,
thickness and general film performance.
Perform colour consistency and product quality checks.
Identify production faults and make machine adjustments to minimise downtime.
Carry out routine preventative maintenance and daily equipment inspections.
Record production data, machine settings and quality control information.
Maintain safe work practices and comply with company WHS procedures.
Assist with machine changeovers between production runs.
Work closely with production supervisors and maintenance personnel to maximise production efficiency.
Ensure production schedules are achieved while maintaining consistent product quality.
Assist on recycling lines when required by production demands.
Interpreting production specifications and work orders;
Monitoring raw material usage and minimising production waste;
Installing or changing dies, tooling or machine components during setup;
Ensuring machinery is configured to meet production specifications.
Essential Requirements
Film blowing experience is a must.
Minimum 2 years of recent experience as Printing Machinist – Film Blowing Operations in a closely related industrial machinery operation role.
Experience operating automated production machinery.
Strong understanding of film material quality and production requirements.
Ability to identify different polymer types used in plastic recycling and film manufacturing.
Robust mechanical aptitude.
Ability to interpret production instructions and specifications.
Experience undertaking machine set-up and troubleshooting.
Commitment to workplace health and safety.
Ability to work rotating shifts.
Good communication skills.
Full Australian working rights
Desirable
Experience within plastics manufacturing, recycling or polymer processing.
Forklift Licence.
Experience with quality management systems.
