You'll travel around Australia alongside your team driving a range of Army vehicles including:
Mercedes Benz G Wagon — 4×4 and 6×6 variants
MAN medium 40M and heavy HX77 protected and unprotected variants
Heavy equipment transporter/multi combination — up to 110 tonnes (to carry the Abrams main battle tank).
Key Responsibilities
loading, driving and maintaining vehicles and their associated equipment
driving loaded and unloaded vehicles in diverse conditions and on all-terrain
delivering personnel, stores, equipment and Combat Service Support (CSS), utilising road, rail, sea and air transportation
operating material handling equipment, such as forklifts, winches and cranes
camouflaging a vehicle
supervising and assisting with loading and unloading vehicles
recovering damaged vehicles using vehicle recovery equipment
operating radio/communications equipment fitted to a vehicle
transporting VIPs up to Brigadier or equivalent rank
navigating through built up areas and in the field using civil maps or military maps
driving specialist vehicles such as Water Tankers and Fuel Tankers.
Skill & Experience
I am an Australian citizen, or an eligible Australian permanent resident
I am at least 17 years old
I can start my application at 16.5 years.
My background can be checkedto obtain the minimum-security clearance.
You must have lived in Australia or have a checkable background for the past 10 years.
I have completed Year 10.
You'll need to have passed Year 10 English and Maths.
I am reasonably fit and healthy.
Keeping fit is a big part of joining the ADF.
You'll need to pass a physical fitness test before you join, but don't worry, we'll give you tips to help you prepare.
My driver's licence is not suspended or cancelled.
You don't need a driver's licence for this role but if you have one, it can't be suspended or cancelled.
