About the Role
Swinburne University of Technology is seeking an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander nurse academic to join the Department of Nursing in an identified Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor role.
This role recognises the leadership of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander nurses in shaping culturally safe and future focused nursing education and research and we welcome applicants who bring strong clinical expertise, a commitment to teaching excellence, and an interest in advancing Indigenous knowledges within higher education.
In this role, you will work collaboratively with academic and professional colleagues across the Department of Nursing, the School of Health Sciences, the Moondani Toombadool Centre (MTC) and external health and Community partners.
You will be supported by senior academic leadership, including by the Professor of Indigenous Health and Nursing.
The role is part of a broader cohort of Indigenous academic staff within the School of Health Sciences, supported by the MTC and its commitment to advancing Indigenous education, research and engagement.
As the Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor, you will provide academic leadership in the design, delivery, evaluation, and continuous improvement of undergraduate and postgraduate Nursing curriculum, with a particular focus on embedding Indigenous knowledges, and culturally safe and responsive practice.
You will also engage in research activities aligned with the MTC Indigenous Research and Education strategies, School of Health Sciences' and Department of Nursing's strategic direction, focusing on areas including Indigenous knowledges, person-centred practice and/or technology.
This role makes a substantive contribution to the ongoing development and review of the Bachelor of Nursing, which has a focus on embedding person-centred and culturally safe care within blended and technology enabled models of learning.

About You
To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:
A willingness to complete a teaching/education qualification.
Demonstrated clinical experience in Nursing.




A high degree of organisational and administrative skills with capacity to contribute to leadership of course and program delivery.
Demonstrated high standard of interpersonal and communication skills.
A capacity to contribute to research teams and partnerships and in practice research supervision to achieve high impact research outcomes is preferred.
Qualifications
Relevant qualifications in Nursing and eligibility for AHPRA registration.
At least one AQF qualification level higher than the unit of study being taught or supervised (minimum AQF 8 for the Bachelor of Nursing).
A PhD is desirable; however, we strongly encourage applications from candidates who demonstrate a commitment to undertaking doctoral studies, with appropriate support and pathways provided.
