About the role
Mater is seeking aBusiness Practice Improvement Officerto join ourPlanned Careteam at ourSouth Brisbane Campuson amaximum-term contractfrom31 August **** to 24 September ****.
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the continuous improvement of outpatient and procedural services by leading business process initiatives, supporting transformational projects, and using data-driven insights to enhance patient access, operational efficiency, and service delivery across Mater Health.
Salary range: $***** - $***** per hourplus superannuationandaccess to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900+access to many staff benefits!
What you'll be doing
In this role, you'll partner with clinical and operational leaders to drive process improvements that deliver better outcomes for patients and the organisation.
You will:
Lead business process improvement initiatives across Planned Care.
Analyse operational data and performance trends to identify opportunities for improvement.
Support the implementation of service redesign, digital initiatives, and transformational projects.
Develop and maintain business processes, policies, and governance documentation.
Monitor outpatient performance, including waitlists, patient access, and activity reporting.
Investigate data anomalies and recommend practical solutions to improve performance.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary stakeholders to optimise outpatient services.
Support compliance with Specialist Outpatient Services Implementation Standards (SOSIS) and relevant legislative requirements.
Provide expert advice, reporting, and insights to inform operational and strategic decision-making.
About you
You are an analytical and collaborative improvement professional who enjoys solving complex problems and delivering meaningful change within a healthcare setting.
You will bring:
Minimum two years' experience in a senior role within a healthcare setting.
Qualifications in Business Administration, Project Management, Quality Improvement, or a related discipline (tertiary qualifications highly regarded).
Demonstrated experience leading business improvement or change initiatives.
Strong analytical skills with experience interpreting operational data and producing meaningful insights.
Advanced communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence at all organisational levels.
Experience using Microsoft Excel, Power BI or similar business intelligence tools.
Knowledge of healthcare improvement frameworks, with experience in continuous improvement methodologies.
Understanding of SOSIS, Activity Based Funding, or patient administration systems (highly regarded).
A collaborative approach and a passion for improving patient outcomes through innovative service delivery.
