Healthcare Australia (HCA) is a major provider of healthcare services across Australia, including allied health, primary care, recruitment, NDIS, care services, and training.
In December ****, we commenced providing health, mental health and wellbeing services across the onshore Immigration Detention network.
Our team, which includes nurses, general practitioners, and allied health professionals, offer a wide range of healthcare services to detainees, such as triaging, medication, wound management, immunisation, and other clinical procedures.
HCA also introduced a Virtual Care Centre (VCC), a 24/7 service that provides remote healthcare through telehealth and video consultations, helping to enhance onsite care for detainees.
Job Description
Employment Type:Part-time and full-time positions available
In this role, you will be part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team committed to delivering person-centred, high-quality, and safe mental health care.
You will be responsible for conducting mental health assessments, developing and implementing care plans, delivering therapeutic interventions, and monitoring the mental health and wellbeing of individuals in detention.
This is a fantastic opportunity to provide a wide range of mental health services, including crisis intervention, risk assessments, medication administration, psychoeducation, and support for individuals with complex mental health needs.
The role focuses on delivering compassionate and trauma-informed care that respects the dignity, culture, values, beliefs, and rights of detainees, while contributing to a supportive and inclusive healthcare workplace.




Join us in bringing a new approach to medical and wellbeing care for detainees by:
Provide comprehensive, person-centred mental health care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of treatment in collaboration with detainees and the multidisciplinary team.
Promote culturally sensitive, safe, and respectful care that upholds the dignity, rights, and individual needs of people in detention.
Contribute to continuous improvement of mental health services, including participating in policy development, quality initiatives, and performance reviews to enhance clinical outcomes for detainees.
Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring coordinated, multidisciplinary care and maintaining high standards of professional conduct to support Healthcare Australia's values and reputation.
Permanent Part time and full time roles available
Let's talk about you!
AHPRA-registered Nurse(General, unrestricted registration) with either a minimum of five (5) years' experience as a Registered Nurse in mental health (non-telehealth) plus a post-graduate qualification in mental health.
OR
AHPRA-registered Nurse(General, unrestricted registration) with eithera minimum of seven (7) years' experience as a Mental Health Registered Nurse without a post-graduate qualification.
