Lead the day-to-day operations of one of the Tweed's most distinctive food businesses
Pasta'bah by Woodland Valley Farm is looking for an experienced, hands‐onDeli Retail Managerto lead our Murwillumbah deli.
Pasta'bah is more than a traditional deli.
We combine Italian food service, specialty retail, takeaway dining and locally produced food under one roof.
Our team serves fresh pasta dishes, Italian meals and deli products while showcasing the pasta, sauces, desserts and other products made by our own production kitchen.
This is a senior operational role with responsibility for the complete day-to-day performance of the deli, covering bothFront of House Retail and Back of House Food Service operations.
You will lead the team, manage service, maintain presentation and food‐quality standards, control labour and stock, oversee ordering and catering, and ensure the business operates efficiently, professionally and profitably.
About the role
This is not a position for someone who wants to manage from the office.
We are looking for a capable and organised manager who is comfortable being present on the floor, supporting the team, resolving problems and maintaining standards during busy service periods.
Your responsibilities will include:
Managing the complete daily operation of Pasta'bah Deli
Leading, supervising and developing the Front of House and Back of House teams
Preparing rosters and ensuring staffing levels align with operational requirements and labour budgets
Coordinating retail, kitchen, preparation, catering and production activities
Maintaining high standards of customer service, food quality, portioning and presentation
Ensuring shelves, displays,
counters and retail areas are consistently stocked and presented
Managing ordering, deliveries, inventory, stock rotation and regular stocktakes
Monitoring food costs, labour costs, wastage and operational efficiency
Coordinating catering orders and ensuring they are delivered accurately and on time
Managing customer concerns professionally and efficiently
Ensuring company procedures, opening and closing processes and operational systems are followed
Overseeing food safety, cleaning, allergen controls, temperature records and HACCP compliance
Maintaining workplace health and safety standards
Overseeing POS procedures, cash handling, till reconciliation, refunds, discounts and daily sales reporting
Identifying operational problems early and implementing practical corrective action
Maintaining venue cleanliness, organisation, equipment and presentation standards
About you
You will be well suited to this role if you have:
Previous management experience in hospitality, food retail, a deli, café, restaurant or similar environment
Strong team leadership and staff‐management capability
Experience managing both customer‐facing service and back‐of‐house operations
Confidence preparing rosters and managing labour against budget
Sound knowledge of stock control, ordering, wastage and food‐cost management
A strong understanding of food safety, cleaning and workplace safety requirements
Experience with POS systems, cash reconciliation and daily financial controls
Excellent organisation and time‐management skills
The ability to remain calm, decisive and professional during busy service periods
Strong customer‐service standards and attention to detail
The confidence to hold staff accountable and address performance or behavioural concerns appropriately
A practical, hands‐on approach to management
Commercial awareness and a genuine interest in improving sales, efficiency and profitability
Experience coordinating catering, retail merchandising or HACCP‐based food operations would be highly regarded.
