Why your role matters:
The Head of School (Business and Accounting) is responsible for the management of development, delivery and quality of the programs within the School. As an executive academic leader, the position holder is focused on ensuring the continued relevance, accreditation (where appropriate) and the quality of teaching for all units and courses within their scope of their School. The position holder is responsible to the Dean for ensuring that the curriculum material is - in compliance with PIA's policies - current, relevant and of appropriate quality and depth so that students are given the best possible start to their chosen career or enhancement to that career.
The heart of the role is the drive for continued excellence in teaching and research. In addition the Head of School needs to be a visionary to drive the development/orientation of current and future courses within the scope of their School and the future demands from industry and students.

What you'll do:
In this role, the applicable functions are the following:
1. Course Development & Quality Assurance




Lead cultural improvement initiatives enhancing learning and teaching approaches and operation;
Ensure that there is effective and regular revision of the PIA courses and units within the discipline;
Enhance targeted moderation and benchmarking initiatives for course and unit improvement;
Support cross‐discipline reviews to promote academic consistency and continuous improvement; and
Engage with learning technologists to ensure that technical innovations are implemented to meet the Institute's functional learning and teaching needs within the discipline.
2. Industry Engagement & Relevance
Engage with industry and discipline regulators to ensure continuing course relevance and alignment with contemporary pedagogies and professional standards.
Identify opportunities for improving academic and business processes and quality to enhance operational efficiency and outcomes;
Implement initiatives aimed at improving the student experience and streamlining services; and
Lead external benchmarking initiatives relating to the student experience
4. Stakeholder Management
Collaborate with academic staff, administrative teams, and external stakeholders to ensure effective academic service delivery.
Provide timely support and advice to the Dean and other senior leaders regarding the student experience.
Qualifications and Experience:
Doctoral qualifications in the discipline or master's level qualifications with extended professional experience;
Evidence of ongoing scholarship in the discipline;
Proven track record of academic leadership;
Ability to work with students,



placement mentors and staff from diverse backgrounds;
Ability to support students' learning activities through various media and modes;
Commitment to equity and diversity principles, and Work Health & Safety; and
A track record of successfully implementing process improvements and enhancing operational efficiency and students' experience.
Relevant current skilled memberships and registrations;
Understanding of Higher Education regulatory requirements, including the ESOS Act and the Threshold Standards
