Our company is a supplier of contract furniture - in particular seating - for public spaces across Australia.
We're a family business established over 30 years, comprising a close-knit team of 30 staff.
We design, manufacture and install contract-quality, fit-for-purpose joinery and furniture to projects nationally, delivering forward-thinking solutions with a strong emphasis on client satisfaction.
Now we're looking for the next member of our team as we continue to expand and evolve.
The role:
We're looking for a talented mid-to-senior level designer to join and head our in‐house design team.
This is a hands‐on and end‐to‐end design role where you will closely work with our in‐house tradespersons - timber joinery, metal fabrication and upholstery - to realise designs for our clients, transforming ideas from concept stage through to delivery.
Whether you're a mid-level designer aspiring to move up to the next level in project ownership or a senior designer looking for a role where crafting solutions which combine fit‐for‐purpose and value‐engineered outcomes is key, then we're keen to hear from you.
You'll be:
Working with our management team and our clients, contributing to product development, producing detailed CAD models, and technical drawings and specifications, right through to production‐ready design detailing - supported by other less‐experienced designers and draftspersons who will ultimately answer to you.
Exploring processes and materials and identifying means to improve and streamline on‐range designs and processes, working with the production team to prototype and test designs, materials,
and methods towards improving both client and company outcomes.
We're looking for either:
Mid-level
3‐5 years experience in a similar or adjacent industry
Proficiency in Solidworks
Good understanding of materials, techniques, and processes across timber joinery, metal fabrication, upholstery, finishing disciplines
Experience with preparing drawings for CNC programming
Hands‐on experience working in joinery and furniture
Senior‐level
6+ years experience in a similar or adjacent industry
A high level of proficiency in Solidworks
Deep knowledge of materials, techniques, and processes across timber joinery, metal fabrication, upholstery, and finishing disciplines
Significant experience with CNC workflows, drawing preparation the programming process
Experience in CNC machining across a range of joinery materials
Extensive hands‐on experience working in joinery and furniture
The ability to contribute to the design strategy of the business
Willingness to mentor junior design staff
