An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Mental Health Clinician (RPN4, OT4, SW4 or Psychologist Grade 3) to join the Merri-bek Community Team within Northern Health's Mental Health Division.
Northern Health is the major provider of acute, maternity, sub-acute, mental health, specialist, community and home-based services in Melbourne's rapidly growing outer north.
Services are provided through our six main campuses:
Northern Hospital Epping, Broadmeadows Hospital, Bundoora Centre, Craigieburn and Mernda Community Hospitals Centres and Kilmore District Hospital.
In addition, Mental Health Services are provided at Epping, Broadmeadows, Jacana, Preston, Mill Park, Mernda and Coburg.
About Mental Health Division:
Northern Health is the third largest mental health service in Victoria Northern.
Within the Mental Health Division, we pride ourselves on providing high quality mental health services to people living in the northern regions of Melbourne, and work in a cooperative way with consumers and carers based on recovery principles.
We aim to provide strong clinical leadership to support all staff in the provision of professional treatment and care by our integrated community teams, inpatient, and residential services.
About the Role:

The Merri-bek Community team is a large,



supportive and dynamic team made up of staff that are truly passionate and motivated in supporting consumers and their families/carers.
We provide a comprehensive range of specialist mental health services to people who reside in the local government areas of Merri-bek and Hume.
We are recruiting for a Senior Clinican to support the mentoring and competency-building of clinical staff, in the earlier stages of their careers.
The Senior Community Mental Health Clinician (CMHC) position acts as a clinical leader and role model within the team and provides support and supervision to other clinicians as necessary.
The Senior CMHC provides a lead in supporting, advising and guiding colleagues regarding mental health treatment and in matters specifically relating to their discipline.
This role involves working in conjunction with other members of the treating team to provide case management support a small number of designated consumers requiring medium to long term specialist mental health support through assessment, delivering targeted mental health interventions and co-ordinating care.
With support of the Acute function of the team you will provide acute assessment and intervention for these designated consumers when needed. This role is predominately a business hours.
This is a 12 month fixed term, 0.6EFT position until August ****.
To be successful in this role you will have:
At least 5 years experience post qualification




Passion about contributing positively to the lives of consumers with mental illness and their families
Advanced skills in the provision of Psychiatric assessment and intervention for consumers with a mental illness
Ability to work as part of a team but also able to work autonomously
Advanced Communication Skills and Interpersonal Skills
Knowledge of the wider MH services in catchment area
