About The Department of Anatomical Pathology at Monash Health is based at Monash Medical Centre inClayton andserves a large network of hospitals including Monash Medical Centre, Dandenong,Moorabbin,Caseyand Victorian Heart Hospital.
Monash Health is the largest public health care network in Victoria,providingthe full range of specialist medical and surgical programs, obstetrics and gynaecology,paediatricsand perinatal / neonatal services.
The Department is staffed by12 EFT anatomical pathologists, 4 EFT registrars, and 30 EFT scientific staff.
The Department processes around ***** biopsies each year, and this includes small endoscopic and needle core biopsies.The majority ofthe cases are of high complexitycomprisingmultiple specimens per case.
Approximately **** cytology accessions per year - both exfoliative cytology, fluid-based cytology, and fine needle aspiration cytology are processed and reported.
This includes non-gynaecological cytology cases only, as our gynaecological cytology is sent to the Victorian Cytology Service (VCS).
Transbronchial needle aspirates (TBNA) and Pancreatic FNAs are performed.
Around 140 perinatal autopsies and less than 10 adult autopsies are performed every year.
About the roleRegistrars will report to their respective supervisor and the Unit Head of Anatomical Pathology.
The successful candidate(s)



will be trained in Laboratory Management; Laboratory techniques; Handling fresh and frozen specimens; Surgical Cut up; Microscopic examination and reporting; Cytological examination and reporting; Autopsy procedures; Presentation at Multidisciplinary meetings; Quality Assurance program modules; Undergraduate teaching; Tissue Banking.
About You:To ensure your success in this role you will bring the following demonstrated skills,experienceand knowledge:

We are looking for candidates who are meticulous with attention to detail, one who can multitask and be a team player and work in a complex environment
Positions are appointed through the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia (RCPA) and applicants will need to apply to both the RCPA and Monash Pathology
Previousexperience in Anatomical Pathology is desirable
Mandatory requirements of the role:
Primary medical degree (MBBS) or equivalent
All candidates will require Australian working rights
Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
Employee Working with Children's Check
Current Drivers Licence
