About the work unit
The Gerontology Department currently provides a range of services that includes Acute Care of the Elderly (ACE), Geriatric Evaluation and Management (GEM), Orthogeriatric Liaison, Community Geriatrics (GEMITH), Interim Beds (patients waiting for RACF placement) and a range of Specialist Outpatient Clinics.

Market-competitive salary and benefits
We offer attractive remuneration packages and generous leave entitlements.
Salary range: $****** to $****** p.h. (L18 - L27)
4 to 6 weeks annual leave with 14%-17.5% loading
*****% employer contribution to superannuation
Attraction and retention incentive allowance (50% base salary)
Motor vehicle allowance between $21,000 and $25,500 p.a.
Professional development allowance of $21,500 p.a. + 3.6 weeks p.a. leave

About your opportunity
The role of the Staff Specialist is to provide high quality clinical and non-clinical services to benefit the patients / clients of the THHS. This includes research as well as teaching the health professionals of the future.
The successful applicant will lead the Community Geriatrics and Interim Beds with the assistance of Community Geriatrics Registrar and MDT. The successful candidate will also be on-call on a rotational basis and provide internal leave relieving.
The staff specialist will be involved in delivering education and supervision to undergraduate medical students from the James Cook University, to interns and RMOs and to basic and advance physician trainees of RACP.
Requirements
Mandatory qualifications and proof of registration (if applicable)
Specialist Registration
You will hold Geriatric Medicine specialist registration (or be eligible to hold) with AHPRA. Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP).
Travel is a requirement of this position.
This is a Vaccine Preventable Disease (VPD) risk role.
Probation period may apply.
