About the role
St John Ambulance (Vic) are seeking Transport Officers – Deceased Persons to support our partnership with the Coroners Court Victoria. Providing transport services of deceased persons in the Melbourne Metropolitan region and surrounds as well as repatriation services to regional Victoria.
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, working as a partnership with a crew member (collections from place of death) or individually during repatriation. The role involves working a rotation roster, 8-10 hour shifts. During these shifts you be activated as required for a collection or planned repatriations.
These roles are based at Notting Hill and Barwon.
As our ideal candidate, you will possess:
A high level of resilience
Excellent communication skills and the ability to manage complex situations with integrity and confidentiality
Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
Understanding and experience with OHS and manual handling procedures
Demonstrated experience working with deceased persons and associated stakeholder including family members will be highly regarded
Demonstrated professional and respectful approach when handling and transporting deceased persons will be highly regarded
Valuable verbal and nonverbal communication skills
Full drivers license with safe driving record
