About the Role
Reporting to the General Counsel, this is an exciting opportunity to join Ozcare's growing in-house legal team, providing strategic legal advice and corporate governance support across a complex and highly regulated organisation.
Working closely with senior leaders across the business, you will deliver timely, practical and commercially focused legal advice across a broad range of matters. You will also support the organisation's governance framework, Board and Committee processes, and contribute to the ongoing development of legal capability across the organisation.
This is a varied and hands-on role offering genuine breadth, exposure and purpose, ideal for a lawyer who enjoys partnering with the business, building trusted relationships and making a meaningful contribution to an organisation that improves the lives of Queensland communities.
Key Responsibilities
Provide strategic legal guidance to senior stakeholders and business units, ensuring alignment with Ozcare's values
Deliver timely, accurate and pragmatic advice on legal, regulatory and corporate governance matters
Identify and manage legal risks across contracts, operations and claims
Draft, review and negotiate commercial agreements, including property, government and general commercial contracts
Support the development and delivery of legal education and guidance across the organisation
Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders to support effective decision-making
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across legal and governance processes
Assist the CEO, Board and Company Secretary with Board, Committee and AGM processes, including agendas, papers, minutes and statutory obligations
Support the ongoing review and enhancement of Ozcare's governance framework and policies

About You
You are a commercially minded legal professional who enjoys partnering with the business to deliver practical solutions. You combine strong technical capability with sound judgement, excellent communication skills and a team-oriented approach. Motivated by purpose as much as professional challenge, you are someone who values relationships, works with humility and integrity, and is passionate about contributing to an organisation making a genuine difference in people's lives.
You will bring:
Tertiary qualification in law, admission to practice in Australia and a current Queensland practising certificate
Minimum five years' post-admission experience in corporate or commercial law; experience in aged care, property or construction law will be highly regarded
Demonstrated ability to provide strategic legal, compliance and governance advice
Strong understanding of Australian corporate law, governance and regulatory requirements
Experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating a broad range of commercial agreements
Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to build trusted relationships across executive, operational and governance functions
Strong commercial judgement, resilience and the ability to provide practical advice in a complex environment
High integrity and genuine alignment with Ozcare's mission and values
