OverviewDrive supply chain strategy and Continuous ImprovementManufacturing/Made to Order environmentWest Victoria/Grampians region - escape the rat race!
This is a great opportunity to really make a mark managing the supply chain and critically driving continuous improvement across procurement, inventory and delivery for a long standing privately held manufacturer in Western Victoria. The business, Australian owned, has been in operation for some 80 years.
It manufactures large capital equipment for the agricultural sector with a huge array of product distributed Australia wide.
It also manufactures appliances including some well-known brands, whilst also providing industrial and contract manufacturing services to the market.
Its broad offerings and its end to end production capability differentiates it from competitors.
The business has grown some 30% over the last 5 years and its forecast is positive entering its next Strategic Plan period.Reporting to the Site Operations Manager, you'll lead a team across purchasing, store and dispatch, whilst also managing the organisation's scheduling and materials planning function.
Procurement is focussed on the organisation's production needs, but requires critical interaction across the business including with Division leaders.
There are some key dynamics at play, defining the forecast and inventory requirements in a facility that produces both made to order capital equipment, but also appliances in a production flow. It's fair to say, that the supply chain has not been properly driven or managed over the last couple of years,

however this provides you with an outstanding opportunity to make a real impact.
Indicative of a procurement process that has been run day to day in response to operational demands, there are several hundred suppliers and these need to be rationalised.
There is also definite scope to negotiate commercial terms - most are standard contracts, so a clear opportunity to leverage improved terms through partnership.
A measurement regime also needs to be established and then clear reporting so that there can be a baseline in order to drive improvements.
The ERP system is Syspro. It is through this continuous improvement mindset that you will drive improvement in inventory turns and DIFOT.
It's time to drive the supply chain, rather than always being in 'react' mode!

We are looking for an experienced procurement and supply chain skilled with a background in manufacturing or construction and able to drive continuous improvement.
Cultural fit is critical above all, so we think you have experience in an SME, where your collaborative and open communication style sees you develop strong relationships with all stakeholders.
You're process oriented, proactive and driven, with a business acumen to develop commercial arrangements, whilst also having that 'down to earth' manner that sees you engage readily with the shop floor.A competitive salary and benefits will be negotiated commensurate with a critical appointment.Ready to make a mark?
