JDM Earthworks is seeking experienced GPS Excavator Operators to join our team on a casual basis.
This is an exciting opportunity to work with cutting‐edge GPS technology on diverse earthmoving projects across Melbourne.
As a GPS Excavator Operator, you will play a crucial role in delivering precise excavation work that meets our high standards of quality and safety.
This position offers flexibility with casual work arrangements, whilst contributing to significant construction projects in the Victoria region.
Key responsibilities
Operate excavators equipped with advanced GPS and machine control technology to achieve accurate grading and excavation
Interpret GPS data and machine guidance systems to ensure precision in earthmoving operations
Conduct pre-operation inspections and maintenance of excavator equipment and GPS systems
Collaborate with site supervisors and surveyors to understand project specifications and requirements
Maintain accurate records of work completed and GPS data collected throughout each shift
Adhere to all site safety protocols, environmental regulations, and company procedures
Communicate effectively with team members and management regarding progress, challenges, and equipment issues
Operate within designated work zones and complete tasks to specified tolerances
Able to work around overhead and underground live services
What we're looking for
Current Heavy Equipment Operator certification or equivalent qualification recognised in Victoria
Proven experience operating GPS‐guided or machine control excavators on construction or earthmoving projects




Sound understanding of GPS technology, grading systems, and machine guidance software
Valid driver's licence and ability to navigate between job sites around Melbourne
Strong safety awareness and demonstrated commitment to WorkSafe regulations and best practices
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and GPS data
Physical fitness and capability to work in varying weather conditions
Flexibility and reliability for casual work arrangements
