Both roles are part time (0.6 EFT, 48hrs per fortnight) ongoing positions.
Working closely with the PICU senior leadership team you will be responsible for the provision of continuing professional development for nurses across the RCH PICU career progression pathway as they develop skills from an entry level through to advanced clinical standing.Classification for this position is RN35, Clinical Nurse Educator (FTE base salary $128,102 per annum, plus superannuation).
What Youu****ll AchieveLead the development, coordination and implementation of education programmes, study days and/or educational activities for nurses in collaboration with other members of the Nursing Education teamProvide nursing education regarding organisational imperatives, changes or clinical updates as requiredCollaborate with Nursing Education Coordinator, Critical Care Division, the PICU NUM and Nursing Education team colleagues to identify the education needs of nurses within PICU.Demonstrate advanced strategic thinking skills when developing,



implementing and evaluating education initiativesPromote and encourage evidence-based practice and educationYour Skills And ExperienceCurrent registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) administered though the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (APHRA)Demonstrated commitment to ongoing personal and professional development, as evidenced in a Continuing Career development (CPD) record/Professional Practice PortfolioPost Graduate Certificate in Nursing, Education, Paediatrics, ICU or equivalentDemonstrated understanding and experience of adult learning principlesExperience working with learning management systemsExtensive peadiatric Intensive Care clinical experienceClinical Support Nurse or equivalentPreceptorship experience and knowledgeSmall or large group teaching experienceAbout the DepartmentThe care of each PICU patient is managed by the PICU consultant on duty, together with a team of PICU registrars, and by a non-PICU medical team consisting of a consultant, registrar and resident (eg. Cardiology, Cardiac surgery or Oncology).
Other specialist services may also be consulted about the childu****s care.
The unit employs approximately 160 EFT nursing staff of which most have a post registration qualification in paediatric intensive care or are working towards it.
In addition to the nurse unit manager there are 6 Associate Nurse Unit Managers (ANUM), as well as many Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNS) in addition to Registered Nurses (RN).
Two Clinical Nurse Consultants (CNC) with a quality portfolio maintain the expected standards of care through quality initiatives, clinical guidance and management of adverse events.
Three Clinical Nurse Educators (CNE) and 5 Clinical Support Nurses (CSN) are based in the unit to support nursing staff at the bedside and co-ordinate several courses in the unit, for both staff within PICU and those from outside the area or hospital new to PICU.What We OfferSalary packaging option with our partner, SmartSalary – Increase your take home pay by up to $11,500 per annum!
