MCM Construct is a national road transport business operating across every Australian state and territory, moving specialized freight for major infrastructure and construction projects, Wharf Cartage, FMCG and General Freight.

About the Role
This is a newly created, hands-on leadership role with full accountability for MCM's on-road safety and compliance.
Reporting directly to the Director of Construction & Infrastructure, you will own the day-to-day management of our heavy vehicle compliance obligations and provide authoritative leadership of the company's safety and compliance system — ensuring every transport activity we undertake is secure, accredited, auditable and fully compliant with the Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL) and Chain of Responsibility (CoR).
Key Responsibilities
Own and operate MCM's Heavy Vehicle and Chain of Responsibility frameworks, policies and procedures.
Manage NHVAS / NHVR accreditation and lead the transition to the Heavy Vehicle Assurance (HVA) scheme.
Implement and run the Skytrust safety management system and configure and onboard subcontractors onto approved agreements.
Lead driver and subcontractor inductions, licensing, fatigue and work-diary compliance across all awarded group contracts.
Run telematics and in-vehicle camera breach management end to end, with clear escalation and close-out.




Establish and chair the safety committee; develop SWMS, hazard identification, staff training, policy and procedure.
Administer permits, registrations, PBS access, Red Dockets and NCRs.
Report a monthly safety & compliance update and KPI scorecard to the leadership team, escalating material risks immediately.
About You
Demonstrated leadership experience in heavy vehicle / road transport safety and compliance.
Deep working knowledge of HVNL, Chain of Responsibility, NHVAS and the move to the HVA scheme, including mass, dimension and load-restraint requirements.
Experience in implementing and running a safety management system (Skytrust or similar).
A genuine builder — able to design a compliance framework and personally deliver it, particularly through a start-up / build phase.
Strong stakeholder, subcontractor and audit-management skills, with a disciplined, evidence-based approach.
Willing and able to be based on site at Altona and travel interstate as required.
