The role
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Retail Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Manager to join our dynamic corporate construction team.
The ideal candidate will oversee all commercial and financial aspects of construction projects, ensuring efficient cost management, adherence to lean principles, and compliance with industry standards.
You will play a critical role in driving project profitability, risk mitigation, and fostering strong relationships with stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and manage project budgets and cost estimates for Retail and Fuel Projects
Manage and take accountability of monthly accruals and forecasts.
Monitor project expenses and implement cost control measures to optimise profitability.
Set frameworks, DOA, governance for projects and control approvals.
Review, negotiate, and manage contracts with principal contractors and suppliers.
Identify financial and operational risks and develop strategies for mitigation.
Highlight opportunities for cost savings and process improvements to reduce or eliminate unnecessary cost.
Prepare cost benchmarking, value engineering and life-cycle cost analysis to identify risk and opportunities and support decision making based on Retail construction
Provide strategic supply chain recommendations based on market analysis.
Work closely with Project Managers, and stakeholders to align on objectives, budgets, and timelines.
Ensure adherence to legal, safety, and environmental regulations across all projects.
What's in your toolkit?
Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related field.
Experience in quantity surveying or commercial management within the construction industry.
Robust knowledge of construction contracts, cost control, and project management methodologies.
Proficient in relevant software (e.g., MS Excel, project management software, and cost estimation tools).
Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
Retail project experience is highly desirable, with demonstrated exposure to the delivery of multi-site retail construction, refurbishment, or fit-out programs.
Experience working within fast-paced retail environments, managing stakeholder expectations, cost control, procurement, and contractor performance across multiple projects will be highly regarded.
